When I first started yoga - in my early sixties - I found that my first yoga mat was too thin for my no longer young knees, elbows, and feet. So I began searching for a really good yoga mat. What a difference this mat has made! Now in its 9th year, I can say that it holds up extremely well and is still protecting my knees as well as when I first got it.The mat is much thicker than my first mat and is made of natural rubber which I really like. It is very “grippy” so it keeps me from slipping which I also really like. The thickness and composition do make it heavier, but it is so worth it and is not a problem even when carrying it to public classes.Buying this mat really helped me progress on my yoga journey and has been a factor in helping me stick with the practice of yoga. It is truly worth every penny because it is an investment in your health and general well being.

This mat is always the thickest mat in class. It is more like a pilates mat. I find it much kinder to my knees and wrists than thinner mats. It also stays flat (as opposed to bunching in the middle). The downside to being thick is it lacks stability when you're trying to balance. I move onto the floor for poses like tree pose. The material feels very solid and dense, in a good way. It feels durable, while still providing more cushion than other high end mats. It is plenty grippy too, right out of the box. I have never slipped on this mat, and I've used it for more than a dozen classes. For the cost, I'm surprised it didn't come with even a simple band to keep it rolled up. All you get is the mat. This is why I didn't give it 5 stars.

If you love yoga, I highly recommend investing in your mat. Yes, it’s a lot it’s a lot of $$$- but well worth it. It Allowed me to focus on the yoga part- staying in flow, rather than stressing about slipping and sliding all over the place.• Worth the $$$$ ($20 per class- it’s well worth the $100 investment not to stress out about slippage, not to mention counterproductive to stress out during yoga)• Absorbent (bye, bye mat towel)• Gripage- if that’s a word, which it’s not. Grips well to both you and the floor• No more Slippage (bye, bye slip and slide- we need a REAL yoga mat here!)• Funkage- no funky smells here. Super easy to clean- swipe with wet cloth and dry. Bam, all done.• It’s awesome. Trust me. Buy it!This bad boy lasted me over five years- lots of wear and tear from regular use, eventually started to break down, and became too thin- So I’m on my second mat Jade yoga mat. Works great for hot, sweaty yoga- no slipping and sliding, and no need for a mat towel, either. Moisture absorbs almost instantly, and dries quickly too. Perfect amount cushion and support. Cleans up awesome too- 5 yrs of yoga, no mold/mildew issues and no funky stench. I’m not sure what is recommended, but I use my own cleaning mixture of essential oils, water, and witch hazel, after every use, then hang it out to fully dry- either outside or flopped over a chair.
