I’ve had bad luck in the past, with aftermarket parts for my fridge, and washing machine, they have broken within 6-12 months. Hopefully this one will last more than a few years.It’s fairly straightforward to install. There are 3x ¼” screws holding the ice maker to the fridge.I used a ¼” socket, on a 4-6” long bit driver. You could probably just use a socket and ratchet. There are plenty of guides on youtube for installation.I swapped over the wiring harness from the old ice maker. And made sure the inline sensor on the wire was clipped touching the tray.I swapped over the funnel for the water inlet. I had to cut out the perforated punch-out with a razor blade (for the water inlet).I broke a screw off for the metal bracket that goes on the bottom. I think I used the wrong screw – it was too long. So I should’ve paid closed attention to that, or maybe bought a smaller screw for it. It is alright, the top 2 screws are still attaching it to the fridge fine.I swapped over the metal arm as well.I plugged it in to the fridge, and lowered the metal arm to turn it on.I let it cycle some water through it, and threw away the first few boxes of ice, to hopefully wash away any chemicals from the manufacturing process.It seems to make ice at the same rate as the old one. The cubes are the same size, or a bit bigger.Overall no complaints, but only time will tell how long it lasts
