The backside of the ruler peeled off the moment I opened the package. It was super annoying, I glued it back on but this ruler is super cheap quality.

This thin ruler is actually 36 1/4 inches long. The fact that it extends an eighth of an inch past the last increment lines on each end, makes it easier to make precise measurements or marks; however, if you want to butt the end against something, in order to check a length or make a mark, you will have to remember to deduct 1/8 inch from your measurement. This ruler appears to be very well made and of high quality, but it is very thin and flexible. When laid flat however, there is no side flex, so drawing a straight line is not a problem. Its thinness makes it easy to make precise marks. I bought it to mark glass for cutting and the cork back helps prevent slippage and accidental scratches. I also intended to use it as a guide for my glass cutter, but because it is so thin, it will require care to avoid having the cutter ride up on the ruler. The thinness makes it ideal for measuring, or as a knife guide, but for me, a thicker aluminum ruler would be a better glass cutting guide (although I have yet to find one with a cork back). It seems I need two separate tools, one of which I may have to jury rig. I am giving this ruler 5 stars, because it does what it was designed to do and does it well, even though it does not serve all my purposes.

I already own several of these rulers in shorter length and use them anytime I want a straight line or an accurate measurement. The cork keeps the ruler from creeping while you draw and the fact that the cork is thin allows the pencil or pen to track very close to the edge.Having said that, I purchased this ruler to cover up excess tile removed when expanding the cabinet depth for a gas range that I installed to replace an electric one. I removed the cork, cleaned with acetone, cut to 31 inches to match the rear edge o th stainless range. The finished product looks very professional. The stainless matches the range, I did not have to pad the rest of the range since the ruler is so thin. Sure beats having to retile the whole kitchen counter. A carpenter is not known by his good work, but by how he fixes his mistakes.

This item was purchased through AMAZON, but shipped from an outside vendor. Email shipping confirmations were provided and the package arrived in a sturdy round mailing tube via Priority Mail in short time, just 3 days after placing the order.I was looking for a sturdy steel yardstick with a non-skid backing that could be hung from a magnetic strip. My main purpose was to use it on craft projects requiring use of an exacto knife, box cutter, or rotary blade device. This yardstick is indeed made of steel, will adhere to a magnetic strip, and has a non-slip cork backing, however I was admittedly disappointed in how extremely thin both the yardstick and cork layers were. (After removing the yardstick from the packing tube, it took some amount of time and effort to forcefully manipulate and bend the ruler to maintain a flat profile.) Due to the sheer thinness of this item, I'm concerned that my rotary cutting blade may have a tendency to override the yardstick, thus disrupting the cutting pattern and/or endangering my fingers, however time will tell.In all fairness to this review, the item description does say "FLEXIBLE", however I didn't think it's flexibility would be contingent on how ultimately THIN the ruler is. That being said, I think this item is a bit overpriced at roughly $8.50, especially in light of an additional shipping fee of $7.50. Not worth the cost of returning item. I wish I would have "passed" on this purchase.
