One of my recent hobbies has been amateur leatherwork, and I have ordered most of my tools here on Amazon, where the prices are much better than local or specialty retailers. This is a great basic toolset if you are just getting started as a beginning, or if you need a spare set, such as for a second workshop or other location. I used the punches, awl, and needles (along with some tools and supplies I already had) to make a new belt out of bison shoulder and ostrich leg. A photo is attached. The tools in this kit were all I needed for that project, and they worked well. The nice looking soft-side nylon zip storage case is a nice bonus and helps keeps things neatly organized in a compact space. (But a good project would be building your own leather tool bag / roll to hold this set!) As an amateur hobbyist, this tool set meets my needs and I am satisfied with it.

I recently purchased the most gorgeous handmade leather bag while traveling. Not long after I got home, one of the rivets came undone. I had no way to get back to the guy who made it for a quick repair so I started looking for tools to fix it myself.I haven’t done any leather work before so when I saw this tool kit, I thought “why not fix my bag AND learn a new skill?”So that’s what I’m doing. I was able to attach the missing rivet using a back in this kit and the tools for that -sorry, I told you I was really new at leather work so I don’t even know the name of the tools!Now I am looking into sourcing some leather so I can try to create a similar bag for my favorite husband. I think that with the tools and accessories included in this set I should be able to do a fairly decent job.I’m sure that leatherwork pros would have tools that aren’t included in this kit, but for a novice, this is way more than I’ll ever use.It is stored in a zippered folder that has elastic bands to keep everything in place. If anything, though, they might have over filled the case with tools because there are some pieces that just kinds floating around inside the case. Not a huge problem due to the zipper, but an observation.I can’t wait to be able to share photos of the leather items I create!
