Amaran F22C Overview
Aputure Amaran F22c RGBWW LED Mat from amaran is a powerful, versatile, and flexible LED mat that measures 2 x 2'. It offers outstanding light output and color rendering suitable for a variety of users, from filmmakers to videographers, content creators, and still photographers. Providing 200W of power, it features RGBWW LEDs for complete color control, as well as tunable CCT from 2500K to 7500K, providing endless possibilities for creative lighting selections through 360° HSI control, 46 color gel presets, and 15 unique customizable lighting effects. It has stellar CRI and TLCI scores of 95+ and 97+, and stepless dimming from 0 to 100%.
The free Sidus Link app makes it possible to utilize tools unique to the Aputure and amaran ecosystems, such as Source Match, Color Picker, and Custom FX. The F22c can also be controlled using DMX with a separately available USB-C to 5-Pin DMX512 in & out adapter cable, adding professional-level control to an individual unit or groups of lights. The amaran F22c is ideal for videographers who need a versatile and literally flexible lighting solution. The RGBWW flexible panel gives users unmatched strength and control over a wide, expanded CCT range to match a variety of white light environments.

ULTIMATE FLEXIBILITY
As an ultra-light, ultra-thin fabric light, the F22c is compatible with a wide variety of use cases and excels in on-the-go traveland tight spaces. And as a large, soft light that can fold compactly, it is the perfect close-up key light.
REDEFINED SOFT SOURCE
The included foldable softbox has two strengths of diffusion, and a fabric grid that uses an integrated hook-and-loop fabric to instantly turn this flexible mat into an ultrathin soft light that will add beautifully controlled soft light to a scene.
EXPANDED CONTROL
The control box is a multi-voltage AC power supply that features a V-mount battery plate for use with compatible 14.4V, 26V, or 28.8V batteries.
POWER FLEXIBILITY
Full output can be achieved when using the AC power supply, using batteries allows the F22c to be used at either half or full power, depending on battery strength.
FLEXIBLE MOUNTING
An included folding X-frame stretches the mat to a rigid panel that can be attached directly to a C-stand grip head using the straight Baby Pin adapter, or onto any standard light stand with the included right angle Baby Pin and tilting stand mount.

These lights really are amazing. I was skeptical at first because of the 'flexibility' "How can a light be tough AND flexible?" But they are. Bright. Versatile. Adjustable. Easy to set up. I bought the 2x1 2-color as a second light source. Love them both.

I used this as the key light on two of my recent projects where space was limited on the key side of talent. Was able to easily fly into scene using just a 8’ Kupo boom arm on a c-stand because of how light weight it is. Also, brighter than expected.I would’ve given it 5 stars but I do have three minor issues with the product.First is with the foldable metal mounting attachment. They just slide under each corner of the back of the light so there’s nothing locking them into place. I noticed they easier pop out when trying to move the light while assembled. Additionally, they are not very sturdy so they bend easily. I find myself regularly trying to bend them back into a flat position but can get them each perfect so seems like each arm is bent just a little bit differently than the others.Secondly, in order to actually run AC power to the light, you still have to connect the battery plate adapter to the ballast as there is not AC input on the ballast itself. It makes the whole system much bulkier and requires you to hook up a whole extra unit. Would be great if they just built the battery mount into the ballast like they’ve done with lights like their 300Dii and 120Dii.And finally (also issue with the ballast) is that it comes with a thin safety chain attached to it so you can hang the ballast from a stand knob or hook. It’s obviously not very secure and could easily be knocked off. The most annoying part though is that the ballast itself has a locking mount on the side of it that is exactly the same as the mount on the side of the ballasts on their Aputure line lights such as the 600D, 300Dii, and 120Dii that can be attached to the maffer attachment included with those light kits. I’m not sure why they wouldn’t just include the same clamp with this kit so that you can safely and securely mount the ballast to a stand— especially if they already took them time to build the mount in the F22 ballast. I plan to purchase an additional one of their maffer clamp/ballast mounts but just frustrated I have to spend more money on something they include with all their other lights.Apart from those issues though, I really love this light and can see this being a continuous use on my future projects where space is an issue on set.I imagine their “mark ii” version of this light (whenever that comes out?) will address the minor issues I have.Another great Aputure/Amaran product.
