You do not want to buy a corded sander. You want to be able to use this freely. Sanding is usually a mess and better done outside which makes this perfect. I have a lot of black and decker tools so this was an easy choice since all use the same battery. Its perfect for sanding patched holes in the walls.

This is by no means a Makita or plug in sander; however, it does a pretty good job. It's my go to for hard to reach places and finishing work. Works best with 3 amp or greater battery.First one developed problems / broke under heavy duty load. Second one works great (return) in a lighter us capacity. Worth the price. Quick sand paper changing, too!

I love B&D cordless tools and I have several (drill, impact drill, weed trimmer) that all work with B&D's 20V Lithium Ion batteries. That said, I have several of these batteries and chargers, so I was thrilled to see that I could purchase a B&D sander that was without the battery, and cheaper for that reason. The sander is lightweight even with the battery. In fact, the battery adds a bit of balance to the tool and overall is very easy & comfortable to use. It comes with a "finger attachment" for corner, edge work and fine detail use. It also has a dust-collection bag that is easily removed for emptying, which should be done after every 5-10 minutes of wood sanding. (The bag should not be used for metal sanding, and a face mask or respirator is recommended in that case.) The tool also comes with two 120-grit B&D sanding sheets to get you started that are easily attached (hook & loop style) to the sander base. I would estimate the battery life to be about 30-40 minutes of continuous use, but with start/stop techniques, probably an hour or more. It has a conveniently located start-stop switch on the top of the handle.I used it today to begin sanding off old worn paint from our two Adirondack chairs so I can change their color. It was quick and easy. The vacuum feature worked great, leaving only minimal dust on the chair surfaces. I also tried it to remove rust from an old charcoal/smoker grill that we have and are converting to a planter. On the flat surfaces, it didn't do as well as on the chairs (hello naval jelly), but it did better on the rounder handles, etc. I love this tool and the convenience of cord-free operation and its easy maneuverability.ONE NOTE OF CAUTION: In order for the vacuum function to work properly, you must have 12-hole sanding pads that fit the intake holes of the sander. I made the mistake of not knowing the toll-pad hole configuration, and I ordered extra pads with the sander. Those needed to be returned and I ordered others that fit properly. If you don't do this, the vacuum mechanism will NOT work properly. Black & Decker offers replacement pads but, while of a superior quality, are very expensive. I recommend 12-hole pads by Lot Fancy that are sold on Amazon. While they do not last as long, they are pretty inexpensive at about $13/50.
