We have tried everything to filter our the calcium/magnesium in our well water. We didn't want a water softner. It's only been 2 weeks, but noticing no trace of these minerals on our equipment. We are pleasantly surprised that this item is working. Will update after months of use, but for now, this is an item you should try if you have had similar water problems.

Update START:I was wanting to return this product in the first month but am glad I did not follow through. After a couple months, I can honestly say that this product does deliver. My home water is consistently between 280 and 430 ppm on the cold water and hits over 500 ppm on the hot water, likely because of the buildup in the hot water tank. I still do not see a huge difference with some of the existing buildup I left on one of my taps for testing, though I was able to easily chip off a small piece and it felt softer. I installed a brand new kitchen sink faucet at the same time I installed this, and there is no buildup whatsoever, where I would normally start to see some minor formation within 60-90 days before. But where I know 100% that this is working is with my drainboard. We usually need to clean the drain hole every 45 days, where there is normally some minor buildup starting (waiting too long results in harening). There is always some white residue left behind, but it simply rinses away. I am hoping that it will only continue to get better from here, with the pipes and hot water tank being cleaned up over time so that the white powdery stuff becomes less noticeable. This won't make your water softer, but it does appear to be delivering on it's intended purpose, which is to help protect appliances, pipes, and faucets.How well this product works for each person will most likely vary, as I believe water pressure is a factor in how well this will work in any home. (My water pressure is 73 PSI on average.) Though I cannot back that hypothesis up at this time because, other than their own advertisement videos, I am unable to find any documentation for this product or others like it, such as fact sheets or third-party testing results. One other detail I can offer for those thinking about buying this product is that I cannot find the NSF certification marking on it. (In their advertisement video 1 of 4, it indicates that it has had third-party testing and also says it is certified by NSF toward the end of that video.)I give it a 4.5 at this time and decided to round up. I will come back to update further as I have more time with it and hopefully can find more factual details about it soon so I can share that in my review as well.Update END______________I have had this descaler installed for about a couple weeks now and am not seeing any significant difference. I am wondering if this technology is real or just another gimmick. Because I needed to cut my main 3/4-inch pipe line, simply disconnecting it for a return within 30 days is difficult, especially since I am not sure what to replace it with considering the time I need to research alternative descalers that actually work. At this time, I cannot recommend this product, and short of keeping it past 30 days to give it the proper time to know if it is working or not, being out 250.00$, I may not be able to determine that or give a solid review. The 30-day return policy is not good enough to give consumers time to evaluate this product. I only have 7 more days till it has to be posted and shipped or I won't receive a refund.

The documentation for the Q1 Whole-house descaler was lacking, I had to contact the seller to determine what kind/size of pipe threads/fittings it connected to (3/4" NPT).
