It is not exactly an OEM type of caddy, it's just a universal caddy with some rubber bumpers to kinda try and fit it snug without any wiggle room, and the cable is way off from the correct length and the caddy interferes with cable where it plugs into board, not sure how long that cable is gonna last like that, but used kapton tape to try and keep it under control so it doesn't rub anything and short out.

The cable itself is definitely for an HP laptop, since it has the same pinout and probably fits in one of the gazillion models of HP laptops out there. But not so sure about the HDD caddy itself. It most certainly is not compatible with the HP Pavilion x360 14-DH series of laptops.

Functionally it works perfectly but the physical frame could be improved to fit better in my HP laptop

This SSD caddy is great. It held my SSD snugly and it fit inside of my HP laptop with the cable being slightly longer than required which is fine. Here are the specific models I used that worked for me:SSD: SP 2.5" SATA III Solid State Drive Ace Series 6gbps with 1TB of storage space, 7mm ultra-slimLaptop: HP Pavilion x360 15-cr000xxxTo set up a new drive, you need to screw in the SSD to the caddy and attach the provided cable to the SSD. Do not tighten the screws too tightly or they can get stripped. Then, open up your laptop and remove the battery, place the caddy with SSD into the drive slot (use the provided rubber edge pieces so the caddy fits well and can't move around), then plug the cable into the mini SATA slot on the motherboard of the laptop. Finally, you can replace the battery and rebuild the laptop and turn it on.To get the drive to be usable, you have to initialize the drive first. To do this on Windows 10, open up the Disk Management application. You should see the drive in the list of drives with all of its space listed as "unallocated." To initialize it, right click the striped grey area of the drive space and click initialize. Pick the settings you want (you don't really have to change the defaults but Google any questions you might have), and let it set up the drive. Once that finishes, you can use your drive.I have not yet encountered any errors on my drive after several days. If I end up encountering a problem, I'll edit this review. Overall, great SATA drive and cable for laptops.

I bought this adapter to install a SSD in the open bay in my wife’s HP Pavilion 360 14” 2-1 laptop. It came with a 256GB m2 drive and quickly ran out of space. There is an open 2.5” bay for an additional drive but it lacks the cable and bracket to install the drive. This fit perfectly.The actual installation took only 15 minutes or so. Simply lift the rubber feet on the bottom of the laptop, on the side with the screen hinge, to unscrew 2 screws and remove 2 others on the front edge of the laptop. Then remove the battery, again by removing a couple screws. Open the connector for the ribbon cable, seat it and close the connector. Connect the other end to your drive in the bracket, place it in the expansion bay and snap the cover back on.Note I also upgraded from 1 stick of 8GB ram to 2x8GB that I had on hand. Removing the cover to access the RAM slots took longer than installing the SSD.
