for a novice chess player, it was hard to read and understand; however, after much dialogue with an experienced player, I have been able to understand what I am reading now.

The material is good but most of the tactical puzzles are complex. Some are over 2000 level based on the ones I have solved on chess.com.I am an adult player with a puzzle rating of 2500 on there but struggle with most of this book.

This book is fine for what it is, but it is not a workbook to be written in.

Brilliantly composed book for relatively advanced chess players. DO NOT buy this for a young child (e.g. ages 5-8) just starting to get into chess, it will be radically over level for them. Other than the warm & welcoming cover, the content of this book is not even slightly targeted at children.

These are great books but when they mention kids I think they mean ages 12 plus given the reading level. Maybe it says and I missed it. I'll hang in to them for sure for when my kids get older but they are 6 and 7 learning how to play.
