Had them cut at the dealership and programed by my preferred shop. It saved me a lot of money to go this route. However, there are 2 major downsides. The range is much less than the original keys. Perhaps only 25 feet or so vs. the original keys which were at least 100. I can live with that. The other downside is the electronics of both keys died after 2-3 years. I thought it may have been the batteries, so I replaced those, but the pcb boards themselves are dead. Keys still start the car but both remotes are dead.

I bought this set of 2 keys with remotes for my 2003 Toyota Land Cruiser. The keys arrived promptly. I had both keys cut at our local locksmith, who attempted to program the responder chips. One of the remotes had a dead battery, but its responder chip accepted programming. The other remote had a good battery but its chip could not be programmed after several attempts. Between the 2 key sets I purchased, the locksmith created one that actually works.

I had the keys cut at a locksmith and programmed them myself using instructions available online. They work, but as others have mentioned, they have a range of only about 10 feet. My original remote has a range of about 100 feet. My vehicle is a 2008 FJ Cruiser.EDIT: Downgraded to one star. One remote was programmed and would lock and lock the doors, but it wouldn't start the car. I reprogrammed it 3 times and still the same thing.

Es fácil de instalar , hay un vídeo en YouTube y si lo sigues al pie de la letra , funciona correctamente.

All manufacturers make you do a simon-says kind of thing in order to program the keys. These keys have the remote built in plus there is always a transponder programming needed. So you program them twice.1st, I programmed the remote unlock/lock (FOB) . That worked fine. You may have to try more than once as the programming in your vehicle might not be the latest version and timing is everything. If it failed you missed it, most likely, or the cars timing is off slightly. Do it again it may work - one of these keys took 3 times for the FOB acceptance. The instructions for my FJ Cruiser worked perfectly. Both work fine as remotes but don't expect to start the car until you program the transponder as that is required for most all 2000+ cars.Last step says to take your new key(s) to a locksmith for transponder programming. I did not need to do that. I carefully followed the transponder programming for my car - which I looked up.So next I programmed the transponder. This enables the car to start when you turn the ignition on. This is a completely different sequence than programming the remote functionality. For my 2008 FJ cruiser, I used the following which I am told will only work on 2008 and 2009 FJ Cruisers. (Maybe works on all toyota 2008-2009? As programming sequence is the same for land cruiser, 4 runner, sienna.)Programming sequence changed in those other years? Here is the 2008-2009 FJ Cruiser transponder programming that worked for the pair of keys I bought. REMEMBER your car is watching you and you must get it right...or start over.1. Get in drivers seat and close door.2 Insert and remove working key in ignition five times, leaving it in, on the fifth insertion (DO NOT TURN THE KEY and do it quickly within 10 seconds)3. Immediately open and close driver door six times.4. Immediately remove working key from ignition (notice the security "key" light ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF RADIO ON DASH will stay lit... if not start over)5. Immediately insert new non-programmed key into ignition (notice the security "key" light will blink about once every two seconds)6. When the security "key" light goes out the key is programmed, remove the key. Do nothing but wait for 2 minutes - at least. My first time did not work after 2 mins. So, I used 3 mins. and it worked. Just sit in your car and don't touch anything! You must leave them in long enough. Just breath. Don't even lift your butt off the seat or you send a seat to activate airbag interrupt signal to the busy computer and can screw it up. Get the point?7. Start the car with the old key (stops programming mode). Yes, you must to prevent leaving in programing mode.8. If you already had it cut start the car with the new Transponder key otherwise go get it cut to find out if it works. I had mine cut first at a good real locksmith not homedepot/lowes etc. Cost $5 per key.So, I hope this helps those of you with an FJ Cruiser , 4 runner, land cruiser, etc etc. and most of all I hope it says you $50 a key,

Edit (2/6/2020): I have been using keyfob for a little over year and the cover fell off. It broke right at the screw hole. I didn't drop or hit it. Broke on its own. For now maybe I will glue it back but taking one star off.Edit (9/6/2019): both keys work perfectly. However, wanted to note two slight inconveniences:1. The panic alarm gets triggered just by clicking on panic button. You don't have to hold like on any other normal key-fob. That triggers false panic alarms much more often which gets annoying and adds stressful situations. I wish you had to hold the panic button for few seconds to trigger panic alarm. Eventually I learned to avoid those situations by being much more careful with this key-fob as opposed to my 2014 original 4runner key-fob.2. Range is probably twice lower compared to 2014 4runner original OEM key-fob. However, that doesn't really add inconvenience to me as long as I tend to use key-fob when close to car.I got my 2007 FJ Cruiser with non-OEM key and separate fob which is uncomfortable. Key was heavily worn down and fob was falling apart. I wanted something like my 2014 4Runner has: key with integrated fob. People on FJ forum recommended this product and it is great! Quality is at OEM level and keyfobobs work as great as my 4Runner keyfobs. All you have to do is find good local locksmith and cut the key. It is best if you request your cars key number from the dealership. You will need proof of ownership and VIN number and they will give key number to you for free. It is very important to keep that key number in secret because if somebody finds out, they can make exact key to open and run your car. Anyways hand your new fobs and key number to locksmith and you will get exact key cut to your car. I gave him my original worn key just in case, to make sure that key number matches. It cost me $7.99 per key to get it cut including taxes.Next is programming. Just search google how to program 2007 Toyota FJ cruiser. It is a little tricky at first and I am pretty sure it will take few tries to program it. Even harder to program fob which is done within 40 seconds after programming key itself. You will have to do weird staff such as opening and closing door and reinserting key. Surprisingly I didn't even need master key. So my total cost is $44.99 +$7.99 +$7.99 and I have two perfectly working keyfobs for my 2007 FJ which look as good as my 2014 4Runner keyfobs.
