I really do not know who or what to blame. This is the charge port that comes up for my Vostro 7500. It may work on some models. Dell chargers have always been crap and need frequent replacing. The charge port on my Vostro was a solder port attached to a board. If you order this one, make sure it is what you need.

This part was fairly easy to put in using a video (actually meant for a slightly different model, but close enough to follow along). If you're trying this for the first time, be aware that the two screws at the upper corners of the case may not actually come out, just loosen and they stay in their settings, moving freely. Also pay attention to where the holes are that receive these same screws on the inside, so you don't fill up that hole with another screw. You can tell I did that, can't you?I was happy with the part and it worked fine, but it didn't solve my problem, which was that Dell has a chip in their batteries which must be recognized in order for the battery to charge. These chips can go bad and then the battery refuses to charge, even when the battery isn't too old or worn out. Infuriating, isn't it? My computer actually needed a new battery.Last word of advice: If your battery won't charge and eventually grinds down to zero even though you only use it plugged in to save energy, and then the computer won't turn on at all, try removing the batter entirely while you figure out your problem. Mine ran, plugged in, without the battery, whereas it would not turn on at all with the discharged battery in place. Maybe you can get a few extra days to figure out your problem this way.Good luck!

Believing that my laptop charging problems were caused by the male plug as part of the charger, I had already purchased a new charger. That helped for a while, but within a couple of months, the new charger was not physically holding in the charging port long enough to keep the battery charged up. My Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series laptop wasn't inexpensive, but I was afraid I was going to have to junk it way before I thought it should have been time. I went online and found that the charging situation on this laptop series is a common problem caused by the ultra-thin design of the laptop. It seemed that frequently the female part of the charger was the problem. I ordered this one and watched an online video of how to change the part out. I'm running this computer on the original charger with the new female port, and all is good. I'm expecting that I'll have to change these out from time-to-time as this design just doesn't seem to be that hardy. I'm so glad that I can continue to use the computer! This part, while not being an official Dell piece, went right in and works well at a very reasonable price.
