After accidentally breaking my Ford Fusion 2012 key fob, I came across this replacement option. The item arrived promptly, allowing me to have it cut by a lock smith and transfer the chip from my old fob. With seamless functionality, I discarded the new chip and now my new key fob works flawlessly. A reliable and convenient solution for key fob mishaps!

The key was programmed per the instructions and did operate the car It did not operate the door locks remotely.I had a number of emails back and forth to no avail. I think it was an automated FAQ Q&A program.The end result is that I have another "dumb" key with no transmit capabilities. Problem NOT solved.

It came with a dead battery. I tried to add it as a spare key with Forscan and it wouldn't program. I changed out batteries and it programmed it as a spare ignition key.If I had deleted keys and tried to program this key as a master I could have been locked out of the computer because I only had the one other key.The key didn't cut perfectly, but I can still get the key in one way.

My wife's key to her car had started coming apart - it cracked from the torque of being twisted regularly. I priced an OEM replacement from the manufacturer, and was stunned by the price. Given solid reviews on this key, we decided to give it a try - even if we had a miscut and had to try again, we could do that several times for the price the OEM part was going to cost. No worries though, we were good to go on the first try.While our experience was a piece of cake, there are caveats to be aware of:You must have two existing completely working keys available in order to "program" this key.The key will come as a blank. Many local hardware stores will not cut them for you because of the price of the OEM part of they screw it up versus what their cutting fee is. Call ahead - your local locksmith will likely do it for you subject to a disclaimer about "no returns or guarantees". If it's a reputable lock smith, they will do their best cut in good faith, and the cutting of the key will be just fine 99.9% of the time.You must get the key cut properly before "programming" it. If you have it cut and it can turn the ignition, then you're all good from a locksmith perspective.Programming: The same locksmith may be willing to program it for you for an extra charge, but if you want to do it yourself, the directions are included. They involve two steps: One to program the wireless unlock (independent of the key cut), and the other mates a chip that is built into the key to the car. This second piece involves quickly turning the car in and out of the "on" position (without starting it) a set number of times with each of the working keys, and then with the new key. The car will let you know if you've done it right - if not, try it again or take it to the locksmith to help you.Overall, it was a great experience for us, with only minimal hassle above a normal key cutting, and full function on the first try. For that minimal hassle, we could have had almost 10 keys for what the price of a dealer made key.

The red panic button was ridicuosly sensitive and kept getting triggered by accident. It even happened in my pocket! Nobody pays any attention to those annoying alarms anyway so I took it apart and cut off the little nub under the button. I also found that I kept opening the rear glass with the "trunk" button when starting the car. I finally stopped doing that by holding the key/fob more carefully while turning it. It still happens to others when they borrow my car, but I like having that button so I'm not going to disable it.There have been a few (5-7?) non-consecutive incedences when the key would not start the car. I keep one of the originals in the car just in case so I was able to drive. Just when I though I might try re-programming the key, it started working without fail again.Still happy with the purchase./*** Original Review ***/Although ordered with Prime Two-Day Shipping, this item took 5 days to ship (ordered Monday, shipped Friday) and 7 days to arrive. Yes, it arrived on Sunday, delivered by the USPS!-----About the key...The "place with the helpful hardware man" cut the key for me for no charge. If you have two working existing keys and can follow instructions, do not call locksmiths or dealers. Just program it yourself. It is easy! It took me two tries to program the key, but that was due to a bit of clumsiness on my part (the seat moves to my position whenever a key is inserted). Programming the keyless entry buttons worked on the first try.Nice to be able to remove two fat items (fat key and fatter keyless entry fob) from my key ring and replace them with one single fat item. Too soon for a longevity/durability report, but it works fine for now.
