These do the job, but always use a hammer drill and a medium, such as water.

I have to admit I bought this set, but didn't intend on using it for heavy duty work.So far I've actually used them (1 bit only actually) for drilling 10 holes through regular tile. You have to go slow not to skate around at first, but the holes were super clean and I ended up with no issues.The other project I needed to drill out mortar to remove a cinder block from a wall. Still working on this, but so far so good.Its strange, but after the first few holes, the bit seems to cut and bite harder. I dont know if that means future wear will destroy the bit sooner, but so far I've been happy with the purchase.

To be honest, I have terrible luck drilling through concrete walls. I usually rely on the bit provided with the masonry wall anchors, but they never seem to work well. The last time I had to hang something on a concrete wall, I decided to purchase a concrete bit in the specific size I needed, thinking that the poor quality of the included bit was to blame. Unfortunately, the only bit available was from the same brand as the anchor kit and it wasn't any better. I'm pretty handy so I was convinced that it was the fault of the bit and not me. I had been putting off a job I really wanted to do in my basement workshop because it required me to drill holes and install anchors in a concrete basement wall. When these bits arrived, I decided to give them a try. To my surprise, I had very little trouble drilling all the holes. It took a bit of time, but I was able to get all four holes drilled and wall anchors installed. This just goes to show that quality bits make a huge difference, and the quality of these bits is excellent.

This is a useful ten-piece carbide-tipped masonry drill bit set with two 5/32” bits, two 3/16” bits, two 5/16” bits, and one each of 3/8” and 1/2”. These are some of the most useful sizes for the average homeowner, and it is great to have two each of the smaller bits. Of course, they are actually metric bits, so the diameter of each bit isn’t exactly spot on with the stated fractions. Still, for drilling into concrete and masonry—or for government work—the stated fractional sizes are probably close enough.I tested the bits by drilling quarter inch holes in a 2 1/2” thick fire brick and a 3” thick piece of concrete. The quarter inch bit was pretty sharp and made good progress through the fire brick. I used water to lubricate the bit and keep it cool and operated my drill at a very slow speed. Within just a couple of minutes, I was through the fire brick. The 3” piece of concrete took a little longer using the same 1/4” bit.The green finish wore off of sections of the 1/4” bit, but even after drilling through the two hard substances, the bit still was sharp and functional. The included pictures show the two 1/4” bits, with the solid green bit being the unused one.I like the convenient hex shanks of the bits! However, the drill bits do not come with a case, so you will either have to leave them loose in your toolbox, or attempt to store them in the flimsy original package. Given the bright green color, they should be easy to find wherever you store them.
