If you use this on anything other than a sound system board you must have a base of some kind.Mic is great.

I needed a very long mic to plug into a mixer I have sitting right behind my keyboard (on a stand so it comes up just above the top of the back of the keyboard). The mixer goes into the aux input on the back of the keyboard so the voice comes out of the keyboard speakers or headphones.This mic is very long, *almost* long enough to reach my face when sitting back from the keys on the bench comfortably. I 3d printed an eight inch extension that hooks onto a male-female xlr to get it the last bit of the way. It works amazingly well. I don't think the quality is quite high enough that it would work in a serious performance, but for practice it's just dandy. Crisp and clear, and directional enough that I hear almost no keyboard noise. The price is incredibly reasonable for what you're getting, too. I also saved money in not having to buy a boom or anything.

This was much larger than our old podium mic. The base barrel is fatter. There is a taper at the base so it fits snugly in the old podium mount. The mic itself is probably 2x the diameter of or old mic (which means 4x as big). It's also pretty tall. In our podium it hits me at mouth level. I'm 6'. While the gooseneck does adjust, the solid part is long. Shorter speakers may wind up standing several inches further back from the podium. That's just our application, though. It was simply bigger than I expected. Other than that, the sound pickup is excellent. No complaints with how it functions.
