Super Flat and Relatively Static Free. Beats my technics rubber mat hands down.Yes, this acrylic mat makes all the difference in the world. I was skeptical but this thing really minimizes motion, wobble and static. My tone arm tracks way better and I couldn’t be happier.

I purchased this to replace a rubber platter mat that replaced the original felt mat that came with my TEAC TN-350 turntable. In order to improve its sound, I replaced the original cartridge with a Sumiko Pearl and replaced the original cables with mid-level audio quest cables. This combination has made a tremendous improvement to my listening experience. The use of an acrylic mat and using the Audioquest carbon fiber record cleaning brush along with my Discwasher brush I purchased in the early 80s has just about eliminated all that static electricity distortion enabling me to hear just the music on the record. I also appreciate the ease of taking the record off the platter mat due to slightly smaller diameter as pointed out by other customers.

The Acrylic Slipmat is nothing fancy as a slightly flexible piece of plastic, but seems to do the job.

I recently got a Pro-ject Debut Carbon Evo turntable and I HATE the included felt mat. It caused constant static and muffled bass notes so that they sounded uninspired. This completely changed the game. WAAYYYYY less static coming through, more defined bass (albeit a little less punchy), and a very noticeable improvement in L/R channel balance. It turns out, it also makes slightly warped records sound infinitely better. The lack of felts pressure points means a warped record sits closer to the platter, add on a record weight and it was like they were barely warped. SOOO happy I got this. If you have a Pro-Ject Debut, this will improve your sound quality. I’d also really recommend using a record weight with warped records on this platter.
