UPDATE: Sunday March 30th, 2025: I put the 24 inch 80lb YOTO Fluorocarbon Leader on my 12 foot Ugly Stik BIGWATER rod paired with my PENN BATTLE III 8000 HS (High Speed) spinning reel with 400 yards of 80lb Sufix 832 Advanced Superline. I WILL UPDATE some good catches (Hopefully a 100lb Catfish) to test these 24 inch 80lb YOTO Fluorocarbon Leaders out. I also caught a Huge 12 inch Crappie (on a bass lure) and a Nice Walleye using the 18 inch 45 lb YOTO Fluorocarbon Leaders.UPDATE AS I AM WRITING / UPDATING THIS TODAY (Sunday March 23rd, 2025): I bought the YOTO Flourocarbon Leaders in the 24 inch 80lb (6 pack) back on Tuesday July 16th, 2024 and I have ALSO been using them since. I use the 24 inch 80lb YOTO Flourocarbon Leaders on my Larger Fishing Setups……. I am still trying to catch “The Monster / The Monsters” on them but I have been catching other smaller fish on them! LOL! Take a look in my photos… I like the Ball Bearing Swivels to prevent “Braid Line Twist” and the crimps are Beefed Up and Thicker… But more like: “Athletic Thick” Take a look see what I caught on the 24 inch 80lb YOTO Flourocarbon Leaders… they are like invisible in the water too… take a look at the proof in my photos / catches (I am still adding catches when I catch fish on them…Hopefully Monster Fish)…Friday June 28th, 2024 I received my YOTO Fluorocarbon Leaders (18 inch 45lb 6 pack) on my doorstep. They arrived in about 7 Days from when I placed the order. The YOTO Fluorocarbon Leader: Length, Poundage, and Quantity I chose and purchased was the: 18 inch, 45 lb, 6 quantity YOTO Fluorocarbon Leaders. I purchased this one in particular because 45 lb’s seems like a versatile weight; not too big, not too small. But that sweet-spot right in between. And I feel more comfortable having an 18 inch length leader when Northern Pike and Musky are entered into the targeted game fish fishing equation. 12 inches is the smallest I will go in Leader Length when Northern Pike and Musky are factored into my targeted gamefish species equation. 24 inch, and 36 inch leaders are perfect when I am targeting specifically Northern Pike and Musky. But that 18 inch is that sweet-spot length that offers that versatility to still make somewhat accurate casts unlike a 24 inch or 36 inch leader. 12 inch leader is good too. Any leader less than 12 inches used when Northern Pike and Musky are on the targeted freshwater gamefish equation… I become concerned. But still “better than nothing.”Another reason why I chose the 18 inch, 45 lb Fluorocarbon Leaders (6 pack) from YOTO is because of the color shrink tube (the little piece they have by the swivels and crimp) they chose for the 18 inch, 45 lb option. It is a Moss Green color which I feel would not draw too much attention, unlike their other “brighter” colors they chose. Which I think is unwise and stupid. Because if you have an orange color and / or a yellow color (which they do) that could possibly draw too much attention to / for the fish and confuse them. I had this same problem with a Cabela’s Musky Leader. They used bright silver crimps which the panfish would strike as I would do a pull and pause retrieve as my lure was getting closer to the dock about to do my figure 8’s. And that bothered me. Especially when you are fishing a lure like a jerkbait and that pause is necessary. -That’s where that bright colored crimp / shrink tube cover by the swivel and crimp on the leader could cause fish striking confusion issues. The wiser option for YOTO would be: If you want to “color coordinate” your Fluorocarbon Leaders so people can distinguish what poundage they have… USE DULL SUBTLE COLORS. Like: Dark Navy Blue, Dark Moss Green, Black, Dark Gray, Dark Brown, Dark Purple… colors that are more subtle rather than: Orange, Yellow etc: like two of their Fluorocarbon Leader options have.Other than that though, these are priced good for the quantity you get. I personally just have to test out the quality. But a mojority of other reviewers seem to give these the… “STAMP OF APPROVAL.”I fish for: Northern Pike, Musky, Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, and Walleye. So I personally wanted a Fluorocarbon Leader length and poundage that will offer me the perfect balance and versatility of: Strength, Poundage, Size, Length, Weight and other things, to catch all of those species of gamefish without changing setups constantly and/or retying different leaders frequently. And I feel these YOTO Fluorocarbon Leaders in the 18 inch, 45 lb option is that great balance for me that I want in my fishing applications that will allow me to do that. I have alot of very nice lures that mostly cost over $20 a piece and I am not loosing any of them to Northern Pike and Musky… and Walleye (occasionally) whenever they strike and bite my lures. There is a slight part in me that feels more comfortable going up with the Fluorocarbon Leader poundage… but then… I would just primarily be fishing for Northern Pike and Musky. But what I am doing is adding Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, and Walleye into the equation… while still providing some protection JUST IN CASE that BIG Musky or Trophy Northern Pike Bite one of My expensive Lures. So I want a Fluorocarbon Leader that is a little more subtle, and will allow me to fish / use smaller lures without effecting the action too much; but, still offer me some protection for all my lures in case that Northern Pike or Musky decides to Bite my lure.Finding a Great leader can be difficult at times. I been… “wisely” fishing since I was 9 years old, I am over 30 now. The thing I like about these YOTO Fluorocarbon Leaders is… THE PRICE and THE VALUE YOU GET. For YOTO to sell us a 6 pack and / or 12 pack of Fluorocarbon Leaders ranging in good poundage selections AND BE priced between $9 - $18 Dollars IS A DEAL! IT IS A DEAL PEOPLE! Because I have been to these outdoor sporting stores (You have to) and they have Great Fluorocarbon Leaders for BIG Northern Pike and BIG Musky with the Heavy Duty Ball Bearing Swivels (to prevent your braid line from twisting adding to the problem of causing wind knots turning a peaceful fishing adventure into a stressful one) but they charge $12 - $18 Dollars for a pack of 2. They are the Heavier #80, #90, #100, #130 Fluorocarbon Leaders… -But still… you get where I am going in terms of value and price. Don’t get me wrong though… I will buy Heavier Poundage Fluorocarbon Leaders if I want to ESPECIALLY when targeting Larger Freshwater Game Fish like BIG Trophy size Northern Pike and BIG Musky… and BIG Walleye too… as long as they don’t swim away after seeing your Hercules size Fluorocarbon Leader.Anyway back to what I was saying… THE VALUE! These YOTO Fluorocarbon Leaders made my eyes pop out of my skull when I seen them here on Amazon for the quantity they give you in a pack, the poundage selection options, and the length selection options, AND THE BETTER / BEST OPTION… THE BALL BEARING SWIVELS USED TOO! This was a purchase I had to make!Only time will tell if their crimping will withstand the test of time after catching Hard Fighting Freshwater Game Fish -ESPECIALLY Northern Pike and Musky. The problems and concerns I have about these YOTO Fluorocarbon Leaders is:#1. The bright colored rubber shrink tubes on some of the other Fluorocarbon Leader options from this brand YOTO; that cover the metal crimping of some of the other options of these Fluorocarbon Leaders are too bright like the yellow and orange. I will say though… That is smart to put the rubber shrink tube over the metal crimps to prevent the metal from rubbing against your line and fraying / damaging / weakening your line during casting -I just do not like the bright colors they chose to use for some of the other Fluorocarbon Leader options. Because I feel like it could spook and/or confuse some fish from Biting your bait and/or lures. -ESPECIALLY IF YOU ADD PAUSES / LONG PAUSES IN YOUR RETRIEVE WITH A SPECIFIC LURE WHERE PAUSES ARE IMPORTANT. LIKE A JERKBAIT FOR EXAMPLE. They should make ALL the rubber shrink tube colors DARK COLORS. So they don’t stand out to the fish. I was gonna purchase the 18 inch 60lb YOTO Fluorocarbon Leader option but I didn’t because of the orange color rubber shrink tube that stands out too much. So I chose the 18 inch 45lb YOTO Fluorocarbon Leader option because of the more subtle color option of the rubber shrink tube they use for this size… the moss green.#2. I would like to see Heavier Poundage Options (AND STILL BE A GOOD VALUE IN QUALITY, QUANTITY AND PRICE) like: #90, #100, #130, #150 for those Larger More Stronger and More Powerful Game Fish in Both Freshwater and Saltwater. -AND USE DARK SUBTLE COLORS IN THE RUBBER SHRINK TUBE THEY USE TO COVER THE METAL CRIMPS! If YOTO does this they could really separate themselves from other fishing companies and monopolize the Fishing Leader department in the Fishing Industry.
