This are nice and small 64 LED matrix modules. They do not include a driver, being bare matrix modules. You'll want something like a MAX7219 when rolling your own projects, or they work well as a relatively inexpensive solution for drop-in replacement modules.

You'll want the attached diagram when you wire this up - the pin order is bizarre and probably goes back to something having to do with 1 layer boards back in the day.I was gonna do a fancy demo with a video to show it working but - these things are NOT breadboard friendly. In fact - the only way I'm gonna walk up to this for my actual project is with wire wrapping (or a commercially printed pcb) because these connections are just nuts. I have included a picture of my "it does not work right" monstrosity just to give you a clue as to what you're in for if you are thinking breadboard...The DIP chip you see in the photo is a MAX7219 which you'll probably want unless you're hooking it up to a Mega or some such with tons of pins (and even then it probably will not perform well and the code would be nasty). My woes and lack of patience aside, however: these work - I tested a couple of them - all rows and columns light up fully.
