I have been using HP printers for many years. The one I had before the Canon, was good for 3 years. I decided to give Canon a chance as it got good reviews for printing from phones.A 1 page document with 3 pictures and a brief description, essentially nothing of value. Loaded cartridges and paper with no issue. Then the network set up and for that alone, it deserves 1 star. I have set up printers and other components for many years and this was the 1st time i wanted to throw it. Make sure to add the Mopria app plug in. It takes a boatload of ink to print 3 pages.I am keeping it, but won't buy again.

I just wanted everyone to know that the scanner will not scan now...I am looking at buying another printer. This was not what I was hoping for. Very disappointed. It has actually been unable to scan for three months. Also, five months ago it stopped printing front and back. Both of these issues have given me a great deal of grief with my fall and spring courses that I teach.Twana Scalf

If you are someone who is tight about your privacy, this may not be the product for you. I recommend reading the License Terms and Privacy Policy before buying your Canon product. It does not lead you to an agreement until after you've already gone through the set up procedure an downloaded the app.While the privacy policy says it collects data when using their services, it collects data from "Browsing Behavior, Device Information and Interactions". "When you use our Services, information about your device may be collected automatically and incidentally on communications, or information about your activities through the data collection modules we use." You have to comply with this to use the product.Besides my reluctance to give permission for Canon to invade my data, the product works well.

I like the printer very much and it does a great job with all of the different printing tasks that I have had. The top/rear feed works great with envelopes. It appears that my printer was new and unused. However, when I opened the ink cartridges and loaded them, the black cartridge was exactly half empty on the graphic display and now, after printing a low number of pages, I have been receiving messages that the ink is low and the cartridge should be replaced. The cartridges were double sealed so it does not appear that they were used prior to delivery. This is a costly issue with a new printer. I expected to go for quite a while with the original cartridges since they were larger than the previous cartridges that came with my last PIXMA. I am retired and use the printer for personal use at home. This is not a high volume printer.

Despite some hesitations after reading the reviews on this printer I thought I would go ahead with the purchase because I've always used Canon printers with great success and longevity. I gave it four stars mostly due to the downloaded operators manual of 500-600 pages that I found overbearing to navigate for simple set up and use. I think they could have done a better job on this end as other reviewers pointed out. Nonetheless I was able to get it up and running quickly on two brand new pc's from different manufacturers (Dell & Acer) with very few issues. I've had no problems with the wireless set up and operation so far.I believe this has a lot to do with Microsoft Windows 11 handling most of the background work. To Canon's credit they have retained many features as used in legacy printers of the past so I was able to make everything work that I normally use most often. Like many products designed today manufacturers try to add features that many users will never use so it overcomplicates operations for routine work done by most people. So, in probably in a few months of use I will change my rating to 5 stars like all Canon printers I've used for over 25 years.
