This is a lens I had previously owned for the Sony APS-C system, sold when I moved to full-frame, and I truly miss it.I appreciate the use of manual focus lenses for two major things: to slow you down, and to allow more focus on storytelling, intentionality, and composition.I LOVE this lens specifically for all of those things, and in addition it gives you a super-shallow 1.2 aperture with a "normal" focal range at such a low price. It is far from optically perfect - at f1.2 it is hilariously soft except for the very center, at critical focus, and forces everything outside of that into what I would consider a "dreamy" haze, and it really does not afford you any more light transmission (t-stops) in practice than an equivalent f1.4 lens - this is compared to my Sigma 16 mm f1.4 DC DN. So I used this most often at f1.4, and on a 24MP sensor it is more than sharp enough for everyday photography. The build quality is so very nice. I had no problem adjusting the aperture and the focus barrel separately, and 7artisans actually includes a focus tab in some versions of the packaging you can attach to the lens (can also purchase separately) that allow you to focus it with a single finger "by feel" like a rangefinder lens. It's pure metal, small, feels confident but very manageable on an APSC body, and over the course of the year it dramatically changed how I thought about photography. Because everything was manual, I had to rely entirely on predicting movement, acting quickly, and this lens throw is easy to manipulate to get to your critical focus. As a result, you become much more proficient in things autofocus lenses will not allow you to become proficient at - photographing through glass, photographing in poor lighting conditions - and it will also allow you the space to experiment with more creative techniques. I took some of my proudest, and most meaningful, photos with this tiny, take-me-anywhere lens, and by the time I had sold it I had won a local photography competition with it and was even becoming skilled at manually photographing fast-moving objects such as ice skaters. This is a very long-winded way of saying this is one of the best value for money propositions in crop sensor photography. It's a modern, beautiful lens that takes incredible photos, and if you are willing to commit to manual focus it's highly rewarding and gratifying, on both an artistic and emotional level. If such a lens existed on the full frame side at this price point, I would buy it in a heartbeat. I truly adore it and would recommend it to anyone who is looking to discover the true joy of photography.

I've got this lens twice. The first can't focus to infinity, it was replaced by another that has SOFT FOCUS even at the center of the picture up to f4.0...returned right away. The construction and materials used looks very good though. Other than that it was useless.CANNOT RECOMMEND.
