Not as good as the real thing we got it for a dying computer but it’s nowhere near the real capacity

DO NOT but this battery. My daughter just let me know today, 2 months after installing the battery, it doesn’t even work as good as the 3 year old battery that was replaced. Too bad it only came with a 30 day warranty. It seems to only hold about 1/4 the charge of a good battery. I’m not sure if the battery is just inferior or the manufacturer left out some battery cells to save money. Either way, the buyer, me, is screwed out the cost of the battery plus the time spent installing it.

First off, let me say upfront that if you’ve never changed a laptop battery before, it is not an easy task. It is a relatively advanced repair for experienced tech savvy individuals. Macs are particularly problematic inside, from a repair perspective. This is not a plug and play kind of thing! To save precious space, the inside of a MacBook Air is ingeniously - but frustratingly - designed. It is not possible to replace the battery without removing and reinstalling other components, several of which are installed with double sided tape, which has probably not aged well and will be unresponsive to your gentle efforts to pry it free. In addition, there will be a delicate trackpad cable in the way of your battery removal. That also has to be removed or, alternatively, you can maneuver the battery around it… very slowly and carefully. There are screws of different sizes and lengths, but they all look alike and you’ll have to remember where each goes. Finally, Lithium Ion batteries are dangerous. Very dangerous. If you accidentally puncture them with one of your tools, they can catch on fire. Really! (That’s why they ship with all those warning labels on them and why they are not allowed in cargo holds of airplanes.)While this battery comes with the screwdrivers required for the job (which the average Joe or Jane might not have if they’ve never done a Mac repair before), it does not provide a spudger or any double sided tape that is also required for the repair. A quick search for other replacement batteries, however, shows that complete kits are available that do include these. If you don’t know what a spudger is, or have never used one… go back and read the first paragraph and reconsider whether you really want to attempt this repair, which has the potential for causing severe damage to your MacBook Air.Most importantly, this replacement battery does not include any instructions or manual, even though the product description says it does. They say to contact them with any questions or concerns, but they don’t say how to do that. An online search proved pointless. Perhaps their contact info is in the missing manual? You will find several tutorials on YouTube for battery replacement for this model of MacBook Air (from other manufacturers and DIY enthusiasts), but they vary in quality and advice and instructions provided… and they don’t all agree on the steps to complete the task. The battery itself seems well manufactured and arrives carefully packed. I set about to do the repair and had difficulty removing the tape holding both the speakers and the battery in place, but I eventually was able to pry it all free using my, you guessed it, spudger! I had no problem inserting the new battery and it seated perfectly. The repair took about an hour. Once reassembled, however, the computer would not turn on. And when attached to a power source, the computer would not recognize that a battery was installed. I disassembled the computer again, quadruple checked all the connections and the battery was still not recognized. So, I set about to reinstall the original battery and that’s when I severed the trackpad cable. That’s right, I know what I’m doing and I still had a catastrophic accident while attempting this repair. That’s why I don’t recommend this repair for inexperienced individuals. The trackpad cable is only a nine or ten dollar item, but the reinstallation is even more complicated than the battery replacement and requires you to take the battery out once again, as well.If this battery had worked, obviously, this accident would never have happened. It’s when I put the old battery back in that the trackpad cable was severed. I do not recommend this battery which, even without the damage to my trackpad cable, does not appear to work at all.

I acquired this replacement battery for my MacBook Air 2019. The package included the two screwdrivers necessary for the project, but there are additional items essential for the safe removal of the old battery and installation of the new one. Here are the recommended additional items for anyone attempting this DIY project:Alcohol to soften the pull tabsDropper to apply alcohol drops to the pull tab locationsDouble-sided tape for LCD replacements (required for the speakers)Pair of scissorsTweezer (for top pull tabs inaccessible by fingers)While the replacement battery included two screwdrivers, I opted to use my own precision tools to prevent any damage to the screws. After installation, upon turning on the laptop, the battery showed a 75% charge, which is satisfactory. Upon a full charge, the battery has maintained its charge, and I haven't encountered any issues so far. Given that Apple's charging rate is three times higher than the price of this replacement battery, it presents an excellent deal—especially if you're comfortable undertaking the DIY project. I wholeheartedly recommend it.
