Exceptional quality in all aspects. The design is excellent with a great, useable profile. The use of end mills over 1” in diameter are sketchy in an R8 collet. This design ensures a stable, short, rigid and strong interface between the milling head and the tool. The materials and finish are excellent and surprisingly well done considering the low price. The suppled inserts are also of surprisingly high quality. I used this cutter/end mill right out of the box to modify a snap-on tools hardened tool steel socket. I ran at 1600 rmp and took .040”-.060” passes. This cutter went through the tool steel like it was aluminum. The height of the inserts relative to each other is right on as well, so I’m not sure why other reviewers had issues. This tool is for milling/hogging and boring and isn’t ideal for fly-cutting so maybe people have unrealistic expectations with regard to surface finish. If you want a really nice finish, no end mill can compete with a fly cutter and shouldn’t be expected to perform the same. This is an excellent tool at a ridiculously low price…

The example I got is cleanly made and cut very nicely. It cut easily and smoothly. But it wasn't quite perfect. There was just the slightest of a score line I could just barely feel with a fingernail. I'm fussy so I cut a surface then felt penned the end relief edges of the inserts and ran it over the surface again. One of the inserts was rubbing just slightly more than the other two. I removed the insert and with a fine knife sharpening stone I lightly polished the upper lip of the seat so the insert would seat a micron or two higher. This very slight fine tuning made the surface perfect. It still has light swirl marks as is common with a rotary cutter. But the finish was dead smooth where before it had the slightest of ridge. And yes, this is gilding to what was already a very nice lily.Used on a Busy Bee CX603 mini knee mill. The low overhang on this tool is a big help compared to the two part arbor and shell mill combos

I had to use thin copper shims (~0.08 mm which is a lot!) to ensure that inserts are at the same level or otherwise only one insert was actually cutting. If you have to put shims in your tool it is not much of a tool I think. I am disappointed but it was cheap comparable to brand name end mills so it is probably worth what I paid for it.

I used it only once.Cut very well, but the finish is average.
