The USB playback is working so far with the receiver (A51816) of a Matrix 2005. Installation was easy, except that to remove the receiver you need a hex socket with a 6" or longer extension. I got the wire to go to the glove box, so the device and the USB drive stays there (I don't plan to use the auxiliary plug). I have a USB drive with 7 folders. Random mode works within each folder. The sound volume is a bit low, but I have the volume at level 20, which is not bad (a previous FM transmitter needed the volume to be turned to level 30).

I am so happy to have a aux cable now in my 2005 camry. I did not want to replace the stereo but really wanted to be able to use my phone or a usb for music. The install was easy. just gently pop out the a/c climate control panel with a small pic. There are 4 screws 10mm that hold the cd player in the dash. Plug in this adapter and run the cable under the dash. took less then 30 minutes total.I put one in my girlfriends Camry also (2003).Sound quality is good. Hope it works for a long time.

The product is very great. It is a very good alternative than the FM transmitters, or even paying premium to change the radio. It is as advertised “CD quality” sounds no static lick the FM transmitters. The main issue is the sound is very low comparing to the actual CD or even the radio it self, it’s about 50~40% lower than normal. I thought it will get louder if I connect a laptop to the AUX cord, (which happens bc the laptop have more power than MP3 player) but I had the same volume, So I guess there is a limitation regarding the sound volume no matter what power the source have.I only bought this for the USB input. The USB port can read USB 2.0 devices, such as USB sticks, SD card, SDHC. UP TO 16GB.It supports MP3 and WMA music format. It can support 99 folders, every folder can save 99 music file in it.The order it plays is according to the time that you save/transfer to the USB device. ( not 100 accurate, to be true I had to connect the USB stick in it in order to have it the order I needed. Meaning after everything file transfer I had to plug it to the transmitter so that the order stay the same way as I saved. This is critical when you listen to lectures that are connected to each other and the order is important).Overall, I’m not very annoyed with the sound volume (I don’t go crazy and raise the volume all the way up) or the way I need to store my MP3 files to have then in the order I want then to be.I bought this to have USB inputs with a good sound quality, in which it was delivered. Also to that price point, I should not complain much. This adapter saved me a lot of money if I decide to go and buy a new Radio.

This item works GREAT on my 2007 Toyota Matrix with the 6+6 or 12 pin connector on the back. I have the JBL premium sound system with the 6 cd in-dash changer and I was nervous it would somehow not work. This plugged right in and now I can listen to MP3s from a thumbdrive or from any aux input. Mine even came with a cheap USB card reader to read SD/MicroSD cards. The aux input is rather quite from my phone but that is typical. I have to have my phone at max volume and the stereo at the top 90% volume but it still sounds clean, clear and great. Only downside that I can find is that the 3.5mm jack is not "case friendly" I'm planning on mounting a female to female port and then I can use any 3.5mm I want so no star reduction from me.Side note: I was nervous about how the source would work. It is actually really simple. now have AM, FM, and my CD button switches from CD to CD1 like some stereos switch from an FM1 to FM2. If I want to listen to my cds I just press "cd" if I want to switch to the aux I press "cd" again and the display switches to CD1. The priority on this box is USB first then AUX so if you have some memory stick plugged in, that will start playing. Unplug that and the Aux source takes over. The USB music is controlled with the numbers below my deck where they turn into soft keys. I have repeat, random, and even have a fast forward and rewind (not just skip track). I am very impressed that I was able to get all the functionality of a $150 custom deck for $25 without any change or stress with wiring.
