This unit seems very accurate. Every time my wife cooks, it kicks into high speed from the smoke. I'm not joking, it actually does. Even if it's just a strong smell from the cooking, it goes into high speed. I even heard it kick in one time after I sneezed. I've already cleaned the outer filter 3 times since purchasing it (about a month now), so it's collecting. And we no longer see the dust floating around when the sunlight shines through the windows in the morning. It's made a big difference. On the cons side, I see no reason for this thing to make a sound when it changes mode. When I configured the auto mode change at night and in the morning, it make a bing-bing sound 3 times in a row about 10 seconds between. It's in our living room, so no big deal, but if you plan to sleep nearby, it would be annoying.Another con, the app is not that great. I had to disable it sending alerts, because the only alert it sends is that your air quality is extremely bad. And it did it so often that I finally disabled it. But then when I opened the app, and viewed the air quality readings, it was never in the extremely bad range, or only hit it once or twice, much less than the numerous notifications.I would recommend going with the non-app version which is significantly cheaper. You won't use the app, unless you forgot to set the mode of the unit before leaving on vacation, but even then, what's the worst that will happen? If no one is in your home, it's unlikely there will be any dust being stirred up anyway, and it will just keep running in the previous mode. The app does show air quality in a graph form, but looking at that wore off after the first couple of days. The build quality is really nice. Heavy strong plastic sidewalls, easy and intuitive filter replacement, and it's very quiet for the amount of air it appears to be moving. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the quality!

I purchased this product because I moved into a loft building and the place was smelling a touch less than fresh. I’ve had the unit running for about 4 weeks now and I can notice a significant difference in the place. A fluke discovery I made this week and is what prompted me to write the review, was I fried some fish on the stove top and within 5 mins, the indication on the unit changed to a yellow orange colour to signify it has detected contaminates in the air. After about an hour and half, the indicator was back to green blue and you couldn’t smell a single odour from the dinner, absolutely amazing (Ive repeated this twice with alternate foods and same results).*Sound is equivalent to a standard oscillating fan, not bad at all.*Build quality - excellent*User Friendly - excellent

After an enormous amount of research, decided on this unit for a large open space ~1000’sq. Looks good, and feels of high build quality. This purifier moves a lot of air on its Max setting, and you can feel the air movement from several feet away. It blows upward, so not a breeze like from a fan, but a gentle air movement circles the room. It’s also very quiet. In low you cannot hear anything, even standing beside the purifier. Medium adds a little white noise to the room. High is noticeable, but not a nuisance.Pros: “Smart” air purifier boasting a high CADR, attractive unit, solid build quality, decent price, and dual 12-month HEPA filters make this a smart investment. Dual handles make this easily manoeuvrable.Cons: Filter availability. The App: The app is decent, not great. It’s basically a remote control (on/off, fan speed) with a custom schedule builder if you don’t want the Auto mode enabled. Offers filter life indicators/notifications as well as indicators/notifications when to wash the pre-filter filters. Air Quality Index (AQI) is not available in North America. If the 400S (“S” = Smart) is a few bucks more than the 400 (standard) then go for it… but consider how much more you are willing to spend for the ability to control fan speed and receive notifications on your phone.Filters are not easy to find, perhaps due to the popularity of HEPA in the age of COVID, …but like face masks, hand sanitizer, and toilet paper… I’d expect that to normalize soon. All said, we’re happy. Would not hesitate to purchase again.

I love the look of this air purifier—in fact I selected it over many others specifically because it looks cool (graphite colour). So far it works wonderfully. It's easy to maintain and clean, it's quiet when you are sleeping. It detects even the slightest air impurities, like my cat wooshing by or my bedding being rustled on laundry day. Everyone who visits our house comments on how cool it looks. The only downfall is the expensive price-tag, but I have no regrets and would definitely recommend it to anyone who can afford it.

I did a lot of research on air purifiers before settling on this one (400S). After purchasing it I have to say I'm extremely impressed.Build quality is fantastic, it moves a lot of air through it, on the low settings it's super quiet (and still move good air).I was able to connect it to my AmpliFi mesh network no problem, I didn't have any of the connection issues others haveexperienced. The scheduling works very well. There's a very small bug in the scheduling if you are trying to do things specific (too long to go into it in the review). But I have been in contact with Coway and they are working on the fix right now.Their customer support is amazing, fast replies and very friendly. The sensor works great. The 1st one we got is in the Master bedroom, so once we start making the bed in the morning it will sense the "dust" coming off the bed and will kick into medium speed. Even just moving around it will sometime kick it into medium because you are kicking up dust from the carpet (which can hold a lot of dust). So it knows when the air isn't 100% perfect. We liked it so much that we purchased a 2nd 400S for our Living Room/Kitchen (open concept house), we have 2 indoor cats (that don't go into the bedrooms). And a 3rd (300S) for the basement to go beside the cat litter box.We went with a 300S for the basement because of the light sensor on the 400S (300S has no light sensor), it's dark in the basement and the 400S would stay in Sleep mode all the time, which is not what we want, we want SMART mode all the time in the basement.I believe Coway is also working on the ability to disable the light sensor on the 400S through the app, but it's not available yet so we went for the 300S.I don't use the light sensors on the 400S either, I have the schedule turn them completely off during the night because in sleep mode they move a tiny amount of air (to be extremely quiet), not enough to really do a lot in our house, so there's no reason to keep them on. If you have really bad air it's probably good to have them keep working even at a reduced capacity, but our air is pretty good, I just wanted them to help with some of the dust and also a way to monitor my indoor air (through their app).Very happy with them so far.
