Had a few ceiling boxes in the room where we removed the light and didn't want to pull the box and drywall that area, so we used these to cover the box instead. These worked out well, they are quick and easy to use and are a nice bright white. I also had a security camera that I mounted on one of these plates (had to drill the center hole bigger) then the camera fit over it and then put the cover with camera attached on the junction box this provided a nice clean and professional look as the camera didn't come with a good mounting base.

Most ceilings and walls are flat. But older electrical boxes are often mis-mounted at slight angles. For older homes, this was never a problem because older lighting fixtures almost always had larger mounting bases that covered up the electrical boxes. When removing the fixtures and covering those misaligned boxes with a plastic cover, they can flex way to much (causing warping and unevenness).Most homeowners will opt for plastic covers as they’re cheaper. So when renovating for others, I buy what they request. But in my home, I much prefer metal. It offers a much better, even seal against drywall when tightening. Overall, these are great units. Good quality.UPDATED REVIEW: August 29, 2024Just a quick update. Changing my rating to 5-stars. Since ordering these, I’ve also tried a couple of other brands. One set was sold as ‘White’ in color but arrived ‘Gray’. Another brands ‘metal’ plate was super flimsy. And then there are all the plastic versions. Those are great because they’re cheaper. But they can flex with uneven ceilings.In comparison, this one has a solid feel to it. They also sent them out with color-matched screws (a small detail that makes a difference). Additionally, a single screw hole finish is just so much cleaner. And, though I didn’t realize it at first, these are Made in the USA. I know it’s just a cover plate but, this one really does stand head & shoulders over many of the other brands. And when you find something that works well, you stick with it. I’ve since stopped trying other brands and will continue buying these as I need them. Excellent product.

Adjustable center mount strap system easy to install, but included screws need Phillips head make quicker easier to install. Another issue one set had quality problem: missing its white screw for center hole — refer to 2nd pic.
