For a twenty buck kit, this ain't bad. I've been making Ethernet cables since the 90s, thousands upon thousands of them over the decades. I've used just about every tool out there. Is this as nice as that German crimper I had back in 2000 that cost a few hundred bucks? No, but this Ampcom crimper does the job just dandy. It's racheting lock so you always get full compression on the crimp. The tubular striper is cool, I've not see that before and works quite well. The punchdown tool seems adequate, but I haven't used it much and will keep rocking my classic Harris one. The mini dikes are nice and of good quality.Anyway, for $20 it's quite the bargain and you won't feel like you're using substandard tools. You get a lot of decent quality tools for the price. If you went to the hardware box store to pick up the same kit I doubt you could get everything for under $100, and it wouldn't be any better quality. Unless you're building data centers and making custom sized patch cables all day long, this kit will do you just fine.

This review evaluates the “7-in-1 RJ45/RJ11 Network Tool Kit for CAT6/CAT5E/CAT5 Ethernet Connections” made by AMPCOM.The product was shipped with no excessive or wasteful packaging. What’s in the box: one (1) RJ11/RJ45 standard modular connector crimping tool, one (1) 110 kinetic punch down tool, one (1) pair of flush cutters, two (2) wire stripping tools, ten (10) assorted RJ45 modular connectors, a roll of Velcro straps for cable management, a package of spare cutter blades, and one (1) semi-rigid padded EVA zippered case.First impressions: Good quality. Standard fit. Easy to use. The crimper is designed for terminating either standard non-pass-through conventional modular RJ11 or RJ45 connectors. The frame of the tool is made of heavy steel and is well put together. It has a built-in sheathing stripper that worked very well with different brands of CAT5E and CAT6E cabling that I tried. The modular plugs fit precisely into the steel shoe and the handle smoothly crimps the modular plug without the worry of crushing it. The crimper is ratcheting but doesn’t give you any feel of cam-over at the end of the crimp. The produced connection is solid and positive as can be seen in my picture of my Klein continuity tester. The crimper also has a convenient handle locking bar to keep the tool compact in your tool pouch. The kinetic punch-down tool was also of excellent quality with adjustable impact force and reversible anvil head. It solidly punched down wires in a BIX block with ease and precision. The cylindrical sheathing stripper worked surprisingly well on many different types of CAT5E/CAT6E wire I tried. However, I wish this handy tool was made of metal with easier-to-replace blades; this tool looks likes it is disposable. The case is a very appreciated part of the kit; its great to keep your tools in one convenient place within a durable, splash-resistant pouch.Only time will tell if this product has similar longevity and durability as other competitive products on the market. Therefore, I will monitor this product over the next 8-12 months of use and revise my review should problems arise.Cost-effectiveness and value: Overall I am very satisfied with the product, it is well-made, convenient, and easy to use. At a current price of $32.34, I feel it is great value for the quality and functionality delivered. In summary: the “7-in-1 RJ45/RJ11 Network Tool Kit for CAT6/CAT5E/CAT5 Ethernet Connections” made by AMPCOM is made of good-quality material, is tough, and does the job well. It speeds up installation, reduces defects, and contains all the tools you need to do typical network terminations. I would recommend this product without reservation.Pros 👍:✔ Heavy duty steel frame construction, contractor grade.✔ Ergonomic handle.✔ Built-in handle lock.✔ Built-in sheathing stripper and wire cutter.✔ Ability to crimp RJ11/RJ45 standard non-pass-through modular connectors.✔ Ratcheting crimp mechanism that prevents connector crushing.✔ Replaceable cutting knives, and spare cutting knives are included.✔ Adjustable impact kinetic punch-down tool with reversible anvil.✔ Speeds up installation and reduces defects.✔ Includes starter package of RJ45 modular connectors✔ Great price and good value.Cons👎:✘ None.Manufacturer Suggestions 🖐:✔ Include a handy wiring chart for straight and reverse cables on the side of the tool or a laminated business card size chart in the case.

What I needed for work. The case is not as sturdy as it looks in the photo.
