This a good non-wound string. It provides a clear g and I like the sound when I mix the Red g with fluorocarbon strings.

I had Aquila nylon strings on my all mahogany soprano Mahalo uke : the sound was already great. I wanted to low-g’d my sound I then buy this Aquila string : I was immediately hooked. Once well tuned the string stay still and produce a warm, deep and full sound. For example, on a am chord while you’re up-strumming there a mellow sound that remembers me of the violin sound. It’s just wonderful to hear. I bought the whole set of red Aquila strings; I can’t wait to try it!

The string is still settling so I have to tune it constantly but the sounds is really nice. It does well to tone down the cute sound of the ukulele. I think it improves fingerpicking because a lot of the uke chords have double notes, with this string you get an octave. The sustain is a little longer than the other strings but I think I'll get used to it. I'm happy.

great strings - you do have to be careful when putting on the low G because it can break as it passes through the neck nut - so took the advice of another reviewer and held the string with my fingers until it was almost in tune than laid it down on the nut for the final tuning
