There is a very unique quality and sound to these strings. When I go back to using the other ukelele with standard strings on I can really hear the difference between both sets. Red just sound much better.

I love Aquila Red strings! The variable density make for more evenly sized strings and the texture of the string itself seems to provide beautiful resonance. I've used these on a Baritone (with wound low strings) and on a Concert and a Soprano uke. My favorite variety of ukulele string!

Only 1 string in the packet, thought it was a full set including a low G string

An Aquila red low G string is best paired with an Aquila red full string set. When used with other types of strings, the red low G string sounds dissonant. This is because, in comparison to the other strings, the harmonics and overtones are different. You wouldn't string a uke with three fluorocarbon strings and one nylgut string, right? The Aquila red strings also have a different tension than fluorocarbon and nylgut which effects strumming technique. If you're curious about the Aquila red, get a full set to used together. How do they sound? IMO, the reds have a somewhat percussive/ "fwappy" sound sort of like a semi-chuck. The sustain is also less than other conventional strings. It's like the difference between a metal wound string and nylgut string sustain. In a beat heavy or percussive arrangement, it sounds nice. The reds are not ideal for fingerstyle because the sustain is noticeably shorter than nylgut and fluorocarbon. Still, I like the sound of both Aquila nylgut and Aquila reds. Not better or worse, just different.
