The lights from this were amazing, but it became a worthless, normal hula hoop right after the return period. The electronics inside just broke apart.

I try to incorporate 'play' into my exercise whenever possible and hula hoops are great for fitness. My old hoop had become misshapen over time and I was excited to find this newer model.It has a nice weight to it (some 'umph') and is well balanced. The lights are fun - especially as I usually use it in the driveway after dinner so during the winter months when it gets dark early - it just adds an element of fun.The only way I've found to change the light pattern on this hoop is to turn it off and back on again - and when you do you get a different pattern. Would be nice to be able to more easily rotate through the patterns and select the one you want to use.It is hard it is to turn it Off and On. You have to move the tube over silver 'bumps' and sometimes this takes a good deal of strength. If a child is playing with this - they would probably need assistance.

Nice weight, grippy stripe along the hula hoop, fun lights, sturdy. Power button is annoying.Hula hoops are hard to buy online. The shipping cost would be high based on their size. In the past, I bought hula hoops that arrived in segments, which weren't good at all. The quality on this one is much higher. It's much heavier, stronger, and comes in one piece. The trade-off is that it takes a few days to "rest" so it can uncoil.In those few days, I lost the instructions. So, I unscrewed a screw inside to put in batteries. DO NOT unscrew that screw, lol. That completes the circuit with the batteries that you put in to the OTHER end of the hula hoop. The side without the screw is where you insert 2 AA batteries, flat side into the hula hoop. That being said, this is CLEARLY shown in the pictures from the listing. I didn't notice the pictures until after.The bad part is that there's a washer on the other end of the screw to hold it in place, and that compartment is inaccessible. So, I can never secure the screw back in place. I wish that compartment was accessible. I just keep putting the screw in place, and it still works, but it falls out when I want to replace the batteries and it's problematic because you are constantly having to slightly open and close it to turn it on and off.I agree that the power button is difficult to use. It looks like they purposely made it harder to depress because on the previous version it turned on and off too easily. Beautiful with the lights on, still a great hula hoop with the lights off, so only deducting one star for the power button difficulty.

This is AMAZING! :D And especially so for the price! It comes coiled up, which seems problematic but isn't. It was super easy to uncoil and gently stretch into its full circular shape, and it has a blue rubbery ribbon swirled around the circle to help it stay up on your hips, wrists, arms, or legs while you're twirling, which is a nice bonus. It also only takes two AA batteries and comes with clear instructions. The little silver button that you depress to create the full circle and to slide it between the closed and near-closed toggle holes to turn it on and off is very difficult to press, but I have to imagine that it'll loosen up a bit over time, and I was able to get it to depress enough to slide into the toggle holes using both thumbs. But kids would almost certainly need help, at least at first. I used to work in a bar that had these and they were $100 to replace, so I'll gladly spend a few extra seconds working the toggle button to save more than $60. I'd buy this again in a heartbeat.
