i now have 5 of these the compass is not the best but the storage is air tight which makes the whole thing float as well the spark rod works amazingly and i have plans to buy more because the work i do with my sons scout troop every one is getting one for Christmas

Best fire starter I have owned. The others I have are junk compared to this one.buy this one don't waste time and money on other fire starters.value for the money. Package is perfect

The scraper is pretty lightweight and you might want to replace it with an adequate scraper. The compass....seems like a neat idea, however they glued a magnet onto the body of this gadget just below the compass, I guess to hold the scraper? Guess where the compass points at all times? Lol Swing and a miss. This is a good fire starting device, and I have two others pretty much just like it. It works, no doubt about it, and worthy of ones emergency kit or camping gear. The compass thing is cute and just comical. Nice idea, just lose the magnet.

Looking for a few different options for teaching fire safety, and fire building, two younger scouts. They struggle with holding a small, pocket sized fire starter, so I thought this would be a good replacement. The size alone gives you a better grip, and the striker does allow for more secure use. The addition of a waterproof compartment allows for carrying of tinder to make starting a fire easier. I will probably be purchasing a couple more, to be honest.
