I could have made one of these that would work better than this. The handle is weak, the thing that is supposed to release the stuff you pick up doesn't work right and the plate that attaches the handle nearly came off. They used 2 pop rivets to attach it to the body and they were not very tight. I would not recommend this to anyone.

So last summer a car totally demolished our redwood backyard fence. Last week our dog got a nail in its paw. Our back yard has hard and soft dirt and pea gravel. I bought and used this sweeper all around the yard. And picked up a couple of dozen bent nails and some other debris from the wrecked car. This worked very well on all of the surfaces, even pulling nails up from below the soft dirt and the pea gravel areas. I definitely recommend spending the extra couple of bucks to get this unit with the release handle. Not only did I pick up nails, I also picked up a lot of sand-fine magnetic particles, The release handle let me easily clean that off of the sweeper. Would have been a problem without that release feature.

Works great. Rolls very nice. Love the pull handle to release all the stuff you pick up with it. My only complaint is the extendable handle is janky. Twist to unlock/lock & extend/retract is a nice idea but it doesn't work very well. Might just be the one I got. Either way there are a couple better options for handles they could have used.
