These are the new class of li-ion rechargeable batteries that have built in regulator and charging circuitry to make them output 1.5v so you get the power density of li-ion chemistry in the form factor and output of standard alkaline primary cells. li-ion are typically 150% the power density of NiMh so even with the dc-dc converter loss of about 90-95% there is a net gain of power capacity. The other benefit of these batteries is that because of the dc-dc converter and voltage regulation it produces a solid 1.5v throughout discharge. This may cause problems with electronics that have a "battery low" indicator like alarm clocks and radios. It renders the "low battery" indicator not functional because those all rely on gradual voltage discharge profile of typical alkaline batteries which these batteries won't simulate. There are other versions of these batteries that actually simulate the discharge profile.

I replaced some 15 year old worn-out Eneloop batteries with these Power Bull batteries, and wish I did it a lot sooner. I've been testing these out for a month, and my Xbox controller still shows as having a Full charge. I'm not gaming 3 hours a day or anything, but I've been using the controller pretty frequently, so I'm definitely impressed with how long they last. With my previous rechargeable batteries, my controller would show the battery as "medium" even after a full charge, and they would only last 8 to 10 hours before needing to be recharged again. These are a good deal cheaper than Eneloop batteries, and they are better. Plus they come with charging cables, which is an interesting charging method, but it works.I had also read about some rechargeable batteries being larger than they should be, but that is not the case here, they fit perfectly as a AA battery should. These Power Bull batteries are a big thumbs up from me.

These batteries are nice and actually pretty cool. Normally the rechargeable batteries have to be put into a charging station. I do like that you can charge each of these batteries individually, BUT that is also this product's weakness. If three batteries go out, you can't charge them all at the same time. You have to charge them individually which takes longer to get your battery-operated product back up and running. It does come with a charging cord.

For those of us that remember Ni-Cd batteries (the memory effect!) and the original Ni-MH batteries (the deep discharge issues), the advent of Panasonic's "Eneloop" technology was a blessing. But even then, I've had those batteries just stop charging inexplicably. This Lithium Polymer approach is intriguing, as so much has been invested in Lithium battery technologies over the last decade and it's nice to see it coming to the old "AA" size. What I like:* The built-in USB C charging port on each battery is a unique approach and allows you to charge these without a special charger, and using cables you already have.* It holds the 1.5V until the very end when it shuts off. For the most part, that is a nice feature.* This kit comes with a 4-way charging splitterWhat isn't the best:* Charges pretty slowly (6-12 hours?)* The mAh rating is less than half of a typical battery. Because of the aforementioned 1.5V hold feature, this may not be as much of an issue. I need to do more real-world testing to see if these batteries don't seem to last as long as alkaline or Ni-MH.

These POWER BULL USB AA Lithium Batteries are a great replacement for AA Alkaline batteries in most applications. You get the full 1.5V output of an Alkaline battery with long-life and the ability to recharge. The manufacturer claims 1200 charging cycles so comparing these to the price of Alkaline AAs, you will be saving a lot of money over their lifespan. Additionally, you won't have your devices destroyed by leaking batteries which happens way, way too often in my house. Each battery has a USB-C jack and you can charge them one-by-one or use the included 4-way, USB-C splitter. The splitter has a USB-A plug which you connect to a AC adapter or other device capable of providing sufficient power to charge these high-capacity batteries in a reasonable time. A USB-A AC charger is not included. While not difficult to plug cables into each battery to charge, I don't find this as convenient as another brand that has a traditional looking charger where you insert the batteries. The included splitter is so short, charging multiple batteries is like hanging a bunch of grapes from a USB wall wart. While a traditional charger is my preference, I can see the advantage of not requiring you to pack an additional device when traveling and having the ability to charge the batteries one by one with just your cell phone charger.
