I'm not a very tech guy but I do record and another sound guy recommended it. After trying it out I noticed a difference in the sound quality and I usually don't notice these things. I couldn't explain why it works but it seemed to make the audio more clear and sound professional when I listen to recording

Bought this for my mic for streaming because I needed my vocals to stand out a bit, and running the audio fx through my DAW was not an option. Works perfectly, and sounds great with my TLM 103

Installed this unit in a church PA system. It solves the issue of the preacher going from a whisper to a full shout while still allowing a degree of dynamic range. Does not add noticeable artifacts to the sound, no pumping or breathing. It takes a bit of time to "learn" the system and make the proper adjustments to attain the best performance.Good value for the money.

Bought gear to live-stream live interviews with phone-ins. First got a X1204USB mixer, and a NW-800 condenser Mic. Quickly realized that my noisy fridge in the adjacent kitchen made for a less-than-stellar recording environment which needed some horse medicine.I acquired a XM8500 dynamic Mic, the Mic2200 pre and MDX2600 gate/comp/de-ess unit. It took me about 10 minutes to adjust everything to absolute whisper quiet perfection. No DAW post-editing required: No hiss or background noise. My audio is squeaky clean.Notes:- My use and opinion is relevant only for spoken word.- Musicians may have different results and opinions about it.- My MDX2600 (and Mic2200 pre) are both on a Furman M-8x² power conditioner, and nothing else is plugged in there to avoid any ground loops or line noise.- To avoid picking EM/RF interference, I've cabled-up using XLR cables on all links.- You do need a preamp to use the MDX2600, and an XLR-to-computer interface.- For some mixers, not all, it might be possible to preamp on a bus, send to MDX2600 and return to another bus, but there are potential details and caveats which could destroy your gear. Don't do it if you don't know what your doing, specially if your running phantom power.- Don't use unbalanced cables/ports with this unit.My conclusion:I'm overjoyed at the results I've achieved with this thing. I thought my situation was a basket-case. Well the MDX2600 proved itself worthy of the job. I no longer need to process my audio in a DAW. It is now decent enough for live broadcasting. Even after acquiring a separate twin preamp (Mic2200) to run this unit, for the price of a single channel DBX286s, the Behringer combo yields me 2 channels with De-ess. So half the price per channel, and it gets the job done.
