Honestly this is the worst purchase!! The lid will not stay on for anything, nothing fits properly. It’s constantly having issues. I’m gonna have to just order a new one. I’ve only had it for two months.

Like others, I'll mention the instructions are near trash, but you get a lot for the price. My Betta is happy and once you figure out the whole setup, the end result is cool.Tips (read through before starting):1. Not enough rock is provided for this 3 gallon tank. I had a third bag tucked away from a previous tank and that did the trick. So, the company should add one more bag of rock.2. When the upper level is on the tank and the flat side of the tank is facing you, the top left tray is the filter stone, the other is the filter pad. Underneath the filter pad is where the pump goes, and above the pump the little candy cane.3. The blue hooks should be inserted into slots of rounded lip of upper deck prior to placing the upper deck. They have to be tilted into place. If you try to install after the upper deck is in place, you'll break the hooks and render them useless.4. Same orientation, heater on the left and of course the pump lands on the right. You'll also need three plugs for everything (pump, heater, led light).5. The light is weird and took me a sec to figure out. The two metal prong assemblies slide inside the ends of the light with the side clips facing down.6. I should have put this first, but doing this from my phone and don't want to fuss with it. Wash the rock before putting it in your tank. It's dusty. Also, wash the lava rock/filter media because it's dusty too.7. Leave about 1" of air space from the lid. It let's the fish come up for air but also allows the waterfall to disturb the water better. The sound is pleasant too.The tank is absolutely quiet aside from the trickle of the waterfall. I bought 3 gallon jugs of distilled water and only used about 2 1/2...not sure how that makes this a 3 gallon tank, but c'est la vie. Hope that helps! Worth buying, and next step is to set up the aquaponics in the little filter media.

This is a very nice small aquarium and keeps me entertained daily. Setup directions are somewhat fuzzy, but it helps viewing the picture. I've got a dragon scale deep blue betta, 2 tetras, 2 cory catfish (small), 2 tiny blue shrimp, 2 ghost snails. All seem to be doing well and none are aggressive. I opted to use live plants (as pictured in the ad) and have them in both the upper level and main tank for hydroponics and aquaponics, rather than the plastic plants provided (although there are an abundance of the artificial plants included in the box). One thing I would definitely change (the manufacturer should do this, but as a buyer, beware) the small plastic hooks provided to hold the upper portion in place so it doesn't slip into the water below, are difficult to install, and break easily. I have a couple small screwdrivers inserted into the holding holes to accomplish the task. But all-in-all it's a very nice setup.
