The classic and recommended beginner belay device for a reason. Well made, great quality. It does it all, single or dual rope, belaying and allows for abseiling. Still my preferred belay device after 24 years of climbing.This requires a standard belay method which teaches you good belay technique for any style of device In the future. A much better way to learn than learning an assisted belay method to start with a specialist belay device, which then means you never have the right technique for any other situation in the future.Highly recommended.

Ich wollte meine Kletterausrüstung vervollständigen und habe mir diesen ATC zugelegt.Auch beim abseilen schwerer Personen konnte ich das Seil gut fixieren und dadurch die Sicherheit gewährenund würde es daher weiter empfehlen. Des weiteren ist der ATC recht leichtund passt farblich gut zum Elliot ST Schraubkarabiner in Orange

The Black Diamond ATC-XP is a great belay device! My climbing buddy weighs 100lbs more than I do, and I never have a hard time belaying him with this ATC. When I take a date climbing, they typically don't like coming down really fast, and this ATC let's them down snail slow. It's also nice for taking people repelling the first time, because they don't come down real fast. Great product, sturdy build, and love the color. If you don't like the speed, just flip the thing arround, so you aren't using the grooves. Great device.

This is very well made, very light and nice to look at. I use it on a climbing wall and the rope runs throught the belay device very smoothly with good friction. I would say that the high grip side of the device is not necessary for indoor climbing and having tried it that way round twice I have jammed my thumb on it both times! That may say more about me than the black diamond!
