It can use threaded or unthreaded CO2 cartridges. Very happy.Purchased this along with some CO2 cartridges (https://amzn.to/43RzqgS) for my RockBros bike bag (https://amzn.to/3NoCCem). Works great, lightweight, and allows for rapid in field reinflation when the thorns come.

The design of these inflators is great. My previous inflators screwed onto the stem and would leak air when you unscrewed them. These don't screw and a super easy to use. I helped a friend change their tube on a group ride and he had these. They were so easy and fool-proof to use I bought two for myself.

The right tool makes all the difference and this is the right tool. I have had poor results with other inflators that either leaked or took three hands to use. This unit is so simple and works so well it will make you smile even though you are on the side of the road fixing a flat. I have read about the o rings drying out. I have not had that problem but I put a drop or two of lube on them just as prevention.

Purchased this Blackburn Wayside CO2 thread on inflator July 1, 2016. Used it 4 times. Failed July 9, 2016. Worked great the first 3 times. Now, air leaks out of the adapter that goes onto the valve stem. The way I use it: Since the CO2 cylinder, nozzle, and valve stem will freeze up if you put all of the air in at one time, I put about 1/2 the air into the tire while it is still off of the bike. After putting the wheel back onto the bike, I put the remaining air into the tire. Currently, the leak is slow enough that I can get enough air into the tire to ride the bike. However, if the leak becomes faster, the remaining CO2 will escape before I can get it into the tire -- can't ride on a half inflated tire.I have a question into the community/shop that sells the Blackburn inflator to see if there is a user fix. I've heard that mineral oil helps to keep the rubber gaskets / O-rings from bunching up -- but; would like to get confirmation from the manufacturer.I also have an Innovation Intelligent Head Plus CO2 inflator that failed in the same manner. I put mineral oil on those rubber components but it still leaks air. The Innovation inflator is bulky and has too many steps.I also purchased the Pro Bike Tool on July 1, 2016 but have not use it, yet -- now I will since the Blackburn Wayside has failed.I really like the simplicity and speed of the Blackburn Wayside. Screw on the CO2 cylinder and press it to the valve stem to fill the tire (2 steps). With the Pro Bike Tool, make sure the fill lever is turned to the left (air-flow off), thread on the CO2 cylinder, thread the adapter to the valve stem, turn the lever to the left to fill the tire, turn the lever to the right to stop filling the tire, unthread the inflator from the valve stem (6 steps). And, if you forget to close the air-flow before you put on the CO2 cylinder, there goes all of your air.I will call Blackburn on Monday (today is Saturday) during business hours -- M-F 8:00-5:00 central. They claim to have a lifetime warranty. "To make a claim, call our Customer Service at 1-800-456-2355 for a Return Authorization(RA) number. Some issues may be resolved upon the initial call." I hope they have a user fix that works because I really like the way this inflator works.

Tested in the first ride, and it was successful.I had the chance to test the inflator the very first day I put it in the bag, before this I was not sure about his functionality, I thought it was a bit stiff and wouldn't be easy to make come out the CO2, I was wrong; I don't had any experience with this kind of tool; but it was as easy as to twist the cartridge in the thread of the inflator and then to fit the adaptor on the tire valve and make press. What a way to do the things easy, love it !
