After a particularly high current drift dive in Maui (which, luckily ran perpendicular to shore, and only a couple hundred yards out), one of the members of our boat got separated from the dive master. Luckily, they were well equipped, and had brought their own DSMB to signal the boat. This made me realize how critical this (relatively) cheap piece of gear is to safety when boat diving.This item feels like a solid pickup for me in that regard. I liked how tall it was, and that included a reflective strip (which was missing from some of the options I had been considering). There is one drawback here though, it is significantly WIDER than I had expected, as that size isn't listed on the description. It is just under 7 inches wide, which makes it a pretty big piece to add to a pocket.I like that is can be filled either from the bottom or via the air nozzle, and it does contain a strap that is elastic, though I do worry about how that may hold up over time.The dive reel feels nice. The line feels solid, is bright, and I really like the swivel that should help things from getting twisted. However, this is one glaring issue! The "loop" that runs off of the swivel is setup to be too short/narrow to allow the reel to fit through it. Every use of an SMB I have seen has used the reel directly attached to it, and then used the clip used to attach the reel to the diver. I'm going to have to cut off that fancy swivel just to retie this to have it setup correctly. Bummer

I no longer scuba dive but still enjoy snorkeling and spear fishing. I have just received this and haven't had a chance to take it to the beach yet but have tried it and am very happy. I wanted this so my dive partners would be able to see wear I am and also to let any boaters know that I am in the water. The float is inflatable and stands five feet up, making it very easy to see. You also get a 98 foot tether on a reel that lets you move away from the float. I expect to use a small dive weight to hold the base of the float in the water and keep it upright. I will also use this to hold my catch stringer. In an emergency, the float can also be used to keep a distressed swimmer afloat by using the tether and the d rings at each end. While designed for scuba, I think this will be perfect for my use.

This is an awesome safety kit for divers. Even if you do not usually dive, but need to every once in a while, or just need to go underwater for repairs.Great for many purposes, this is very universal kit. It allows you to notify everybody above the water, that there is somebody below the water, probably right below the buoy. They give you a dive reel, a couple of clips, and a dive bouy. All essential gear, for you to be submerged in active waters. If there is even a chance somebody could go by while you are under, you need this set up, or at least one like it. Very easy to use, comes with a very bright, very large chartreuse dive bouy, that can easily be seen, even in low light, or bad weather conditions. Very long line on the dive Reel, should meet all of your needs. Great set up, great price, stay safe, highly recommended.

This set is great for diving. The 5 ft surface marker buoy is highly visible and inflates easily. It makes an excellent safety tool for surfacing. The 100 ft reel is smooth and durable, allowing for easy deployment and retrieval. It also comes with an extra storage bag so it keeps everything compact and organized in my dive gear bag.

I got this DSMB to replace a shorter one as I feel like taller is better for this type of safety device. This product is good quality, overall.It's easy to inflate and the over pressure valve works well.The combination of the bright orange and the reflective strip is very effective for visibility.The included orange line is on par with other DSMBs I've owned.The only somewhat negative is that the spool is plastic rather than metal, which means it's more likely to break.Bottom line: Overall, I'm very satisfied with this product and would recommend it to others.
