The Trapper was originally designed for those who trap small game and has become a favorite pattern for many Case knife collectors. Our Trapper is equip with two full length blades, a slender Clip blade and a long Spey blade. This versatile pocket knife is a great everyday carry and suitable for outdoor use or hunting. This collection features Tru-Sharp Surgical Stainless Steel, Chrome Vanadium, or 154-CM blades with synthetic or bone handles to choose from. Our Trappers have a length of 4.13 inches for a comfortable fit in hand.

For some folks, a pocketknife is like a wallet or a set of keys. They don’t leave home without one. Who knows when a rope will need cutting, a fish will need filleting or a pesky clamshell package will need opening? For the past 129 years, we’ve been proud to know our knives have earned their place in the pockets of the farms, fishermen, hunters, ropers and even bankers who carry them. Maybe it’s because they’re crafted in Bradford, PA. Maybe it’s because they’re made with the finest materials. Quality Craftsmanship is in the Details

Case's commitment to quality is evident in the many pairs of hands that it takes to create just one knife. Case knives start with carefully shaped handles made from a wide range of genuine materials like cattle bone, stag antler, buffalo horn, mother-of-pearl, exotic woods and stones. Brass, nickel, and silver components highlight each form, bringing together knives that are not just beautiful, but able to stand the tests of time and use.

Care Tips for Case Knives

Tru-Sharp Stainless Steel (SS) is a special high-carbon steel that helps the blades hold an edge. It also offers extraordinary blade strength and corrosion resistance.

Chrome Vanadium (CV) blades are known for their edge-holding ability and easy re-sharpening. However, they are less resistant to rusting, pitting and discoloration than stainless steel. We recommend keeping a thin film of oil on the blade to maintain the finish.

Sharpening

Blades are honed at an inclusive angle of 35° - 45° from the factory. Maintaining a constant angle, hold the blade 17° - 22° from the surface of a sharpening stone and stroke the blade as if shaving a thin layer from the stone. Repeat the stroking motion along the entire edge of the blade starting at the blade heel and working to the tip. Turn the blade over and repeat the process.

Cleaning

To clean the blades and handles of your Case knife, apply a small drop of oil in the joints of your knife and a small amount of oil on a clean, soft rag or cloth. Wipe down the blades and handles with the soft cloth. The inside of knife can be cleaned with cotton-tipped swabs and wooden tooth picks. To remove any adhesive tape on your knife, apply nail polish remover or lighter fluid to a soft cloth to easily remove the residue. Rusting may occur to older knives. Rust spots on older knives should be oiled well and the knife should be allowed to sit for a few days. Carefully, scrape away the rust spot with the tip of a sharp, stiff knife.

Our Recommendation

Case Honing Oil.

This honing oil is made especially for re-sharpening knives. The main features of this honing oil are: (1) protect the sharpening stone, (2) carry away debris, and (3) produce a keen edge on a metal blade such as a knife.
