We like this a LOT.We've been looking for a replacement thermos ever since we lost the lid to our one. This is a great size (the old one was huge) and works very well, and has a nice feature with the collapsible spoon.PROS:-- Holds temps well. We tested it with ice, and the ice (and melted water) were still cold several hours after originally putting it in the thermos in a room temperature home.-- Mouth is very wide -- no issues in pouring in food, soup, ice or any type of drink. Our old thermos had a smaller mouth and you couldn't fit food (like hot pasta) in it very well. This is very wide and will hold hot food and cold food well.-- Good gripping material on the outside -- the outside is made of a silicone material, and it's easy to grip. You do need a larger hand to open because the lid is so wide, but it's not hard to open.-- spoon -- this is by far my favorite feature. It has a collapsible spoon (see pictures) that fits neatly inside the closed thermos. To have a dedicated spoon that you don't have to attach on the outside is VERY nice, and everyone in my house oohed and aahed over the engineering on this one.-- big but not too big. We have the 29 oz version, and it's a perfect size. I think the 17oz might be a big too small, but with the larger version, you can easily fit your main dish in here for whenever you need it.Definitely recommend.

I’ll say right off the bat these don’t measure up to the Thermoses from the 50’s, 60’s, or 70’s. But if you have never had one of those, and you aren’t expecting things to stay hot all day, you might be happy with this. The first thing I did when receiving this thermos was to wash it well, temper it with boiling water, and then put boiling water in with the lid on tight to test how long it would stay hot.2 hours - still too hot to the touch4 hours - too hot to leave my finger in for long, but certainly cooling down6 hours - bordering on warm. I would finish anything meant to be hot off now. After this I would start to be concerned of bacteria growth leading to food poisoning. No one wants to go there!12 hours - tepid, barely warmSo, the claim that it will keep things hot for 9 hours is false — warm yes, hot no. I would say 4-6 hours tops.I got this in the hopes it would be good for sending hot soups to work with my hubby. I am not sure about doing that, as lunch for him is about 6 hours after he leaves home and if I don’t fill it all the way with hot soup (which is a lot of soup) I doubt it would stay hot enough for that long. I will test this at home next time I make soup, before I consider sending any with him. It is a good size for carrying soup for 2 on a short hiking/picnic date, zoo trip, etc. so it will get used.

Purchased for the kids to take hot items to school. Works much better than the thermos brand one we have
