I purchased this gas door lock from Amazon because the local Toyota dealer wanted $200 for basically the same lock. On Amazon, with other vendors of this lock, people had said the lock arrived with no retaining clip (the thin plate metal u-shaped clip which holds it in place). I could no longer find my original lock, so this was a problem I was hoping to avoid. This lock, from this vendor, shows what looks like a retaining clip, but in fact it isn't .. it's a light plastic (almost a film) which serves no purpose in 'retaining' the lock in place. This is a nuisance, obviously .. the lock should come with a retaining clip, but it doesn't. Fortunately there's a relatively easy solution. After you put the lock into the gas lock door hole, you will see the two 'wings' which extend from the two sides. There's enough space in there to wrap a wire around (the wire fitting into the space behind), and then twist the wire ends underneath the lock to cinch it up tight. I was able to put two wraps of wire around the lock this way. With the two wires cinched tight the lock was securely fit and it looks like it should last. When the door is closed you won't even see this amateur but seemingly effective solution. I didn't give this a good rating because, frankly, it seems ridiculous they sell it without the retaining clip to hold it in place; otherwise the lock is just fine. Good luck. Hope this helps! :)
