This is a reasonable grade mixing glass with a solid feel and weighty base but the size stated is way off (unless I was sent the wrong size). I measured the capacity of mine at 950ml (32 US fluid ounces). The diameter is too big to use my Julep strainer but my Hawthorn strainer sits loosely on the top without dropping inside so no real harm done there. The mixing glass is big enough to make several Martinis in a batch so will be quite useful to me when entertaining guests hence the 3 stars.

Let me help you out here because some of the product information in the description just isn't accurate. Start with the dimensions: I've got one right here and the mixing glass is 5-3/4" tall x 3-1/2" in diameter. I don't know where the dimensions listed in the description came from. It is not 6-1/2" x 4". Even the box it's packaged in is a bit smaller than that. It's sort of single cocktail in size, assuming plenty of ice is used. I don't think I could get six ounces of liquid and eight ice cubes in there, but I haven't tried. For those who are interested it is "handblown in China." As for quality, the handblown character is evident and it's done to a high standard. Little ripples associated with hand made work appear in the glass, which is smooth, blemish-free, and quite robust. Very minimalist in design, it's well-executed. Solid, seamless, purist, attractive. Strikes me as a good value.Addendum: I broke mine and re-ordered because I liked it so much. Let's just say that, based on the replacement, the quality here can be quite inconsistent. Glass No. 2 weighs a full 25% less than its predecessor and that missing material is most obvious in the base. This one gets only three stars.

I was prepared to be underwhelmed by this mixing glass but it exceeded every expectation. It's shockingly heavy, especially towards the bottom (see photo for how thick the base is), so you won't break it muddling and it won't tip over on you while mixing. There's no mold seam so stirring is flawless and I've never had any concern that it might shatter, unless I were to just drop it on the floor, and even then it feels so solid it would probably survive. It fits my hawthorne strainer perfectly. This is one of my favorite bar accessories. If you're looking for a quality mixing glass without a lot of flare, this is the one to order.

If you are mixing drinks that are spirit-forward, it pays to have a good mixing glass. If you vigorously mix the drink in this glass, before pouring into the serving glass (over ice), the drink will stay colder longer, without melting the ice in the serving glass as fast. You can mix doubles or multiple drinks in this glass with ease, since it is large. For its final trick, I recommend you try and pre-chill the glass. I make a couple of drinks which are served at around -22C, and everything used in the making of the drink has to be VERY cold to keep the drink components from warming up. Prior to getting this mixing glass, making this drink required pre-chilling two serving glasses (one to mix, one to serve). Now I just keep a spare mixing glass in the deep freeze, along with my ultra-cold ice and the spirits, and the drinks come out perfectly :)Add to this, a good quality bar spoon, a dash of technique, and you will be mixing your favorite cocktails with style!
