I am sure this review is going to get buried among the 2400 other reviews, but I suppose it's worth adding yet another endorsement to this well-designed tent. I already own a couple of dark room tents, and I love them. There's an added *bonus* from the blackout material that sets the tent ablaze in the morning when the sun comes up, so you have no choice but to get moving! Whoever says the blackout allows them to sleep longer is only using this tent in the winter.Nevertheless, it's Coleman quality and doesn't leak--at least not yet. It's super easy to set up (a definite plus for when you get there at midnight and your flashlights are waking everyone up) and take down. The ceiling won't let most regular people stand up fully, but you can spread out all night long because it feels pretty spacious and comfortable inside.I am pleased with this tent and will be happy to rotate it among the other 8 tents in my stable.

The main tent pole retention clip snapped in half on my intial setup, while propery following instructions and applying no force. There does not appear to be a repair solution offered by Coleman except returning for a new unit.

So I have not taken this thing camping yet but as usual, I gave it a test pitch! (Yes, in my house because it’s hot out).-First off they have the poles attached to two corners so they are ready to go when you unfold the tent. Second there is no silly fabric flap to feed the poles through, there’s simply clips that clip onto the assembled poles. This definately sped up the pitching process which was a nice feature. The fly has a single pole that easily clips in place over the door and bungees down to each tent corner. All together this was a simple assembly for a tent.-Without the fly on, three walls are mesh and the door has a fold down window that tucks nicely into the door and can be tied out of the way. The whole door opens and tucks into a mesh corner pocket in the tent, it’s pretty nice because it does tuck the door out of the way and keeps it off the floor.-Inside there is a storage net on the roof and a 4 pocket storage bag on the side near the door.-the blackout feature is VERY IMPRESSIVE. It truly gets dark In there. I got in and closed the door during full sun hours and I was very impressed (see pictures). A little light comes in around the front wall where it meets the fly. Unfortunately inside the dark tent looking around, I did find 2 tiny little pin holes that look like they could be from shipping. For that I deducted a star.-Overall this tent is designed very well and with nice materials. The door zipper has a nice large rain flap on it and all the blackout material feels very sturdy. All the seams in the front wall that would be exposed to rain have a sealed backer on them and they did a good job covering the whole tent with the fly. The fly has no windows in it so should keep this thing DRY and DARK.-I was able to successfully pack it up and zip it back in its original bag on my first try thanks to a small tear away expansion flap on the bottom of the bag.I feel I’ll be very happy in our next camping trip based off my test pitch session. For the price, it’s a quality tent that has plenty of room for two people on a double or queen blow up mattress, or 3-4 people in sleeping bags/mats.

I’ve been using the Coleman Skydome Dark Room Tent (4-person, PFAS-free version) for camping at Padre Island National Seashore, where wind is a constant factor. So far, it’s held up well, but there are a few things to keep in mind if you’re considering this tent.First off, it stands up to the wind better than I expected for a dome tent. PINS is notorious for gusty conditions, so I made sure to stake it down well with longer sand stakes and added extra guylines for support. Once secured, the tent stayed put through some decent wind. The fiberglass poles flex a bit under stronger gusts, but they never felt like they were going to snap. It’s not as rock-solid as a geodesic or tunnel tent, but it holds its own for a quick setup option.I went with the 4-person version, but in reality, it’s best suited for two full-sized adults. I’m 6’6” and 280 pounds, and my wife isn’t small either, so we like having extra room. We can fit a queen air mattress inside with enough space for a few small gear bags, but there’s no way four adults would be comfortable in here. Maybe two adults and a couple of kids, but even that would be tight. The Dark Room feature actually works, which is a nice change from tents that claim to block light but barely do anything. It cuts down on the morning sun, which means you’re not waking up in a sauna at the crack of dawn. It also helps keep the inside a little cooler during the day, though it’s not a magic fix if it’s brutally hot outside.I chose the PFAS-free version because I didn’t want unnecessary chemicals in the fabric, but that does mean some trade-offs. The regular version has a factory-applied water-repellent coating that holds up better in rain. The PFAS-free one is still water-resistant, but you’ll want to spray it with a good waterproofing treatment if you plan to camp in wet conditions. I did that before taking it to the beach, and so far, no leaks. If you camp somewhere that gets a lot of rain, the standard version might be a better bet, but if you prefer to avoid PFAS chemicals, just be ready to do a little extra waterproofing yourself. The setup claim of “five minutes” is a little optimistic, but it’s not far off. With two people, it goes up fast, probably under five minutes once you get the hang of it. Solo, it takes closer to ten minutes, but it’s still easier than most dome tents. The pre-attached poles make a difference, and I like that you don’t have to mess with threading them through sleeves. The hinged D-door is another nice touch since it makes getting in and out less of a hassle. The overall weatherproofing is solid as long as you take a few precautions. The tub-style floor does a good job keeping out moisture, and the rainfly offers decent coverage. I haven’t had it in a full-on storm, but I’d recommend sealing the seams and adding extra waterproofing just to be safe, especially if you go with the PFAS-free version. For camping at PINS, this tent has been a good fit. It handles the wind well enough, the Dark Room feature makes a noticeable difference, and the quick setup is a plus. The biggest downsides are that the 4-person size is really a 2-person tent, and the PFAS-free version needs some aftermarket waterproofing. If I were buying again, I’d still get the PFAS-free one, but I might consider the 6-person version just for a little more space.

Coleman is one of the most recognizable names when it comes to outdoor equipment, and about half the tents I've used have their logo on the side. We needed to upgrade a little two person tent and this looked like a definite contender. It sets up easily and the black out feature is, for the most part, really nice. It helps block out that early morning sun to give you a fighting chance at eight hours, if you want it. It'd probably also be great if you have toddlers who need to nap during the day. Where it's unsurprisingly less useful is when you need to actually use the tent during the day, but can't see a thing. It feels weird to bust out a flashlight during the day - of course, you could also remove the rain flap, but that feels like an even weirder solution.I haven't run into any issues with durability or fabric degradation. So far, it's working as I'd hope. I'll update this review if I run into issues.
