So first off this is a benchtop jointer and without modification it will not compete with a standalone jointer which would cost 4 or 6 times as much and be very hard to move around your shop. With that acknowledged let me say I am very impressed with the performance of the jointer so far with some caveats. The first which i have yet to look into is some lines on the wood surface after running through the jointer that appear to be caused by misaligned cutters, however these will be removed by sanding as they are not very deep. The second is the vertical fence is shorter than the jointer bed I would prefer it to be the same length, Note I have the cast iron fence on order however that is only higher not longer as I understand it. I have no issues with dust extraction as I am using the 4" port. My jointer the 10" was perfectly aligned out of the box with only the vertical fence requiring tuning as I wasn't happy with how awkward it was to adjust. To resolve this I lightly greased the bearing surfaces on the Vertical Fence and greased all threaded fittings. Overall very impressed with the jointer and wish my back could manage the weight of the 12" version.

This review is for the 10 inch model. I went back and forth trying to decide on a jointer. Many of the bench top jointers are made in the same factory but my understanding is this brand is the brand sold by the factory owner itself. This may result in more oversight of production as well as more responsive service. I decided on the CUTech for superior quality control and customer service and on both accounts it has met my expectations.I’ve contacted Cutech twice. Once because I missed a promo for a discount on the upgraded cast iron fence. Within a couple hours of my email I received a response offering the missed promo. The second time was during assembly. Step one says to use the screw preinstalled but there weren’t any such screws. I called the phone number on the assembly instructions and after two rings a real human answered! It turns out the screws in question had a habit of releasing during shipping so now they package them separately in the small cardboard box with other components. The person I spoke with was professional and knew exactly what I needed. As far as the jointer working as a jointer: it was dialed in from the factory although I checked everything before use. The table and the table extensions are solid and aligned. I first tested with some scrap soft wood and then with a variety of hardwoods. You can tell the hardwood makes the motor work harder but I had no problem taking off 1/32 at a time even with a 10 inch wide board.Dust collection is above average. It is not quiet but it isn’t the loudest machine in my shop. For a bench top unit it is heavy but that is a plus when you’re using a potentially dangerous machine: you need stability. I bought the fence upgrade but I have not installed it yet as I want to see how the aluminum one works so I better compare in order to assess if the upgrade is worth it.In sum, for a hobbyist this is about as good of a jointer you can get without buying more machine than you need. While there are less expensive machines this was worth the money especially to get something larger than a 6” or 8” machine.

---Cutech Model 401100 HCI 10" Jointer with Tungsten Carbide Inserts--Jointer was packaged very well. Every edge of the box was protected inside by heavy duty cardboard angles and the box itself was a heavy duty cardboard. Inside it was packed in fairly thick Styrofoam. You have to assemble and install the fence, but that is not difficult. I got it put together and installed on the machine and checked the tables for alignment with a level and a straight edge. They were aligned perfect or at least as close as I could check them. I checked the squareness of the fence to the top of the infeed and outfeed tables, which I expected to have to adjust, it was dead nuts square. The only thingI had to adjust was the adjustable stops on the two auxiliary fence braces.I left the cutting depth where it was set from the factory, which was a very thin cut probably 1/64 or less. I edge jointed 12 boards on both edges, and they fit together extremely well, could not see the seams once they were glued up. I also face jointed or planed 2 smaller rectangular pieces for use on my CNC machine. They both came out dead flat.My overall opinion is, I could not be happier or more pleased with this purchase. I wish I would have bought this sooner, maybe before some of my other machines. I will never be without a jointer again. And I would buy this jointer again without any hesitation.Having said all of that there is one thing to consider. This is a benchtop machine and by virtue of that fact it is small in length. Even with the extension bars extended it is only about 54" overall. So, you may have some problems with boards over 5 to 6 feet long. That is not a fault of the machine, but simply what I see as the practical limitations of a benchtop machine without some additional appurtenances or possiblyanother person to help hold the work piece. But this machine cost about a third or forth or less of the price of a nice floor model jointer.I only have one concern with this purchase. The labels on the box indicate the model number as 401100 HCI. The HCI indicates Tungsten Carbide Inserts. The Tag on the machine itself shows the model number as 401100 HI. The HI indicates High Speed Steel Inserts. I can't tell by looking at them whether the inserts are Steel or Carbide. The inserts are fairly strongly magnetic, a little more so than I would have expected. That does not mean they are not Tungsten Carbide but that plus the model number on the machinedoes make me suspicious. I know I bought and paid for Carbide inserts and I know a set of 20 Carbide inserts are around $90.00. So, I will contact the mfg. to try and confirm which inserts I actually got.Update - I have had this jointer for several weeks now and I still like it just as much as ever. I hope it stays that way. I called their service dept number about 3 weeks ago during the middle of the day and got a recording telling me to what their business hours were and letting me leave a message. I left my name, number and what I was calling about and so far have not received a call back. It really causes angst on my part to pay approx. $700.00 for an item and then can't even get a call back to answer a simple question in 3 weeks time. At this point I would think twice before buying from this company again.

I bought this jointer a few months ago and I'm very happy with it. It's easy to set up and use, and it makes smooth and accurate cuts. The spiral cutterhead is a great feature, as it reduces noise and tearout, and it's also easy to replace the blades if they get dull. The jointer is sturdy and stable, and it has a dust port that connects to my shop vac. The only downside is that the fence is a bit flimsy and hard to adjust, but it's not a deal breaker for me. This model has additional support at each end of the fence to add additional stability which helps make the aluminum fence more rigid. Overall, I think this is a great jointer for the price and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a benchtop jointer.

My jointer arrived on 4/20/2023 - I have already ran several boards through it - all 2x4s roughly 5 ft in length. The results are excellent. I can only compare this to a Jet Jointer JJ-6CSX which I sold. I like the portability of this in my one car garage vs the standing jointer. the additional width compared to my old jointer is a nice welcome too, though I have yet to use it. Out of the box, the cast iron tables were well greased from factory and did not need any adjusting for my particular unit. I was happy about this because it seems like a pain to adjust the tables. Most benchtop jointers require the same level of adjusting so I am not going to ding cutech for this design. I'm sure they all come out of the same factory with different logos and colors on them. The wings that extend work well and I am happy to have them. Fence is easy to install and get to a perfect 90. Carbide spiral cutter heads seem easy to replace if one gets damaged. my previous jointer had straight blades and that required a more meticulous change. dust collection works well I have it hooked up to my wall mounted powertech dust collector. I have the 4 inch adapter kit from rockwell that I use on other tools as well. The longer fence with additional brackets to keep it at 90 is nice addition too. This is the only jointer with that system so far. I'm sure other will eventually catch on. Larger tools are nice, but when they become complicated to use it makes me want to use them less. This is plug and play. Will provide updates as I run wider longer boards through it and hardwoods.
