I'm a rabid surf fisherman and just recently switched to the Penn brand of rod and reels. Extremely impressed with the durability this far.

For the money its great, they cared enough to pack it correctly vs the 'bargain' rods that come damaged in a tube to protect a rolled up poster or something. Legit fishing gear not a ripoff 'looks like' cheap rod.

The only thing I did not like is the small tip, I use the rod for google eye fishing and I cut 16” off and put a roller tip on, works great now. Bc I’m dropping down 200’ plus with a 20oz sinker. Can’t beat the price.

I paired it with a vintage BG60 Daiwa reel w/30lb. braid and it performs great..Landed a few redfish&sharks off the pier effortlessly..Can’t wait to hook my first lunker with it..Great surf rod that won’t run you $200
