I have had the unit since June 2024 and have yet to see any improvement in the water. I would not recommend this unit, but I am not sure if the expensive ones do the job.

I’ve been researching water descalers for a while now. They come in two flavors: capacitive or electromagnetic. Capacitive seems to yield the best overall results. One of the technical specifications for these devices is how many gallons per minute it can effectively process. This device is an electromagnetic version of a descaler. None of the specifications indicate actual effective water flow rate. Also, while it has a fairly substantially built metal casing, it does not look weatherproof. I would not place it in the elements. I have deployed this on my house but have yet to witness any change in my water quality. It should be noted this device sells at less than half of the competition in this space.

I have to say that I have had this on my list for a while...trying to decide whether I should spend my hard earned money on something that I did not think had enough power to work. Well the opportunity came along and i went for it. It was pretty straight forward to install though somewhat awkward as the wires are long and get tangled easily in tight spots.I applied it as instructed and it went well, with a little frustration now and then when the wires caught on something. As for whether it works. ...I can only go by what I am see and hearing....or no hearing in this case. My house is about 23 years old and the pipes have been creaking for the last 4 years when you run the hot water especially. I have had this in place two weeks or so and I noticed yesterday morning that the pipes had stopped creaking and clanking. I am assuming that this is because the device has started to loosen and remove the scale, thus opening the pipe diameter, lowering the water pressure and getting ride of the clanking.I also noticed that tap water has a little more taste to it....again..assume this has to do with the additional calcium running through the system. Hope this goes away soon.

This review is of the Electronic Water Descaler - Water Softener Alternative - Reduces Limescale, HD043These types of electronic water softener products have been labeled as gimmicks for as long as I've seen them being marketed. Of course, most of that negative publicity is probably originating from the companies that sell water softening systems that cost big bucks and require ongoing supply purchases. So this will be a great opportunity for me to find out for myself if they actually work. These types of products can take a long time to show results, which is one of the reasons they get dragged through the mud. People plug them in and expect their water to be instantly perfect. These products do not work like that, so I can only report on the build quality and installation process.I have to know what makes a product work, so I opened the case and took some photos. Inside, there are two identical circuits utilizing an inexpensive CD4049UBMS CMOS inverting hex buffer chip, a few transistors, and other common components. There is nothing particularly complex about the PCB. All of the components are assembled quite cleanly, and the steel casing is very rugged.Installation is as simple as wrapping some wires around the main water pipe. Doing this somewhere near the main shutoff valve would be ideal. The wires have banana plugs that connect to the main unit. A 12-volt wall-wart powers the descaler. The coils of wire supposedly generate an electrical field in some manner that affects the minerals in the incoming water supply. At this point, I am just waiting to see what happens. Scale and minerals are supposed to be altered somehow so that they resist sticking to pipes and valves. If I notice more debris collecting in my faucet aerators, I will be happy. If I see scale actually disappearing from valves and fixtures, I will be absolutely overjoyed. If anything noticeable happens, I will update this review. At this point, I can only report that the product is well-made both inside and out. If it actually performs, it will be a super bargain compared to the price of the competing models.

Working as expected, suggest turn off hot water tank and run water until cold water comes to help replace untreated water, then turn water back on.
