Hey Mr. Dewalt, the ligth is supposed to shine ON the bit, not AROUND it. When drilling in daek places, the led light makes a nice bright cirlce of light that shines on everything BUT the point your bit touches,Not good for carpentry, but still a drill and a reciprocating saw for the price of a drill!I am a professional cabinetmaker and now have three of these drills and I love them. At 12V they are powerful enough to do 90% of the things I need them to do and they are LIGHT. My first cordless was a 12V Dewalt that I bought in 1995, and it is brick by comparison, though it was also excellent in it's time. The saw that comes with it is rinky dink, but I consider it essentially free and will get some use out of it.If you are doing heavier work though, you will definitely need a heavier duty drill as well.

if you’re wondering whether the tools in this kit have the power, features or build quality to be of any use in serious work, don’t worry. They are well thought out, tough and have all the torque and speed to meet design specs. After I lost some tools I needed more 12V batteries, and this kit appeared on sale at just the right time. The drills were already familiar to me. They are solid, strong and useful. At work, I carry one in my inspection kit to pull up and replace a few deckboards or do small to medium drywall patches and at home I carry one around to fix fenceboards and such. i have great appreciation of the power in a small form factor. When I have bigger jobs, I use my Makita LXT drills. It’s like having more than one pair of shoes. It stands to reason that if the 12V drill takes 50% of the workload, then the others last longer. The question for me was : Is the recip saw tough enough to perform on a real job? Or is it a toy? When I took it out of the box, it was evident that it had the same solid build of the drills. Nothing sloppy about it. Like all reciprocal saws, the blade can be mounted in two directions in its quick-release chuck. The bonus, besides its size, is the reticulating handle design. This gives the saw a lot of options for getting at the cut. I expect to prune some branches with it this Spring. You will want to pick up some spare blades. It only comes with a couple of 2in. long ones, fine for drywall or small pipe. I’ve cut with up to a 6 in. wrecking blade. As with any tool, keep your blades sharp and your batteries charged.I have used these tools and I recommend them, both for the tradesperson as an additional kit and for the homeowner, it could be all that's needed. An affordable, reliable and surprisingly useful toolkit

Great price and love DeWalt tools. These do not replace heavier-duty tools that have cords (my corded drill is a DeWalt) but are great for those small jobs around the house & yard where extension cords are a pain to use. I already have the work light, which I use as a flashlight next to my bed and really like the smaller 12-volt battery. The charger I got with the work light is the one that can charge both the 12- and 20-volt (DCB101), which gives me great options. The charger with this pack only charges 12-volt, so it got donated.I would recommend also purchasing the work light for many functions but for my purposes it lasts months as an emergency light kept around the house. Great not having to replace AA or D batteries (I originally had a huge Maglite D-flashlight, but the DeWalt light focuses the light better, is easier to turn off and on and is more comfortable to hold).

This set is a particularly good value, as both tools are useful and well made. The drill is light, powerful and VERY handy - strong enough to tackle most everyday work. I've use it for drilling, mixing paint (gallons and quarts), wire-brushing patio furniture, and drilling in wood. It's one of the few electric tools that I don't bother to put away in its case when I'm done with a job - it has a bracket on my garage pegboard just to keep it handy. The reciprocating saw is also a very, very good tool. It's not really heavy-duty enough to be my only recip saw, but I could see it as a primary saw for plumbing or electrical work, because battery life is actually pretty good - easy enough for near continuous use if you had to and had two batteries and charger available for the job -- and even more so because it's compact with its multi-position (three, actually) handle, so it can fit pretty much anywhere (and in places where a corded sawzall won't). It's light, compact, powerful, and has a good, bright, well-postitioned LED.Both of these tools are well made and suitable for serious or pro use. Battery life is excellent, and all of the 12V Max tools (of which I have several) are light and compact (even by 12v standards). In many ways, these tools have set a new benchmark for 12V cordless tools in general. Build quality is solid, and while I only have about a year of use with both of these, they have both given great service. On the harder-to-quantify side, both feel "sweet" in my hand - sturdy without feeling the slightest bit clunky or crude; light and maneuverable without feeling the slightest bit flimsy or "cheap". Overall I rate them both very high in value, particularly given their relatively low cost in this combination deal. All in all, both very good tools for serious DIY or pro user.
