Just tappy, tap the old solenoid out with a flat blade screw drive and hammer, then push the new one back in using a curved tire iron for leverage. To do it right you really need to lower the pump so you can fish the connector between the pump and block, but i just cut the old wire to get the stock solenoid out and then routed the new wire around the pump and up to the whole in the block. wire is plenty long enough. I positioned the plastic clip so it would keep the wire suspended off the pump housing. Pressure runs around 40's below 3k and shoots up to 90+ when you stomp on it. 3 weeks now and check engine light hasn't come back on. hardest part was getting the steel oil pan off my wifes 2017 dodge charger. Had to sharpen a putty knife and work on one side until it loosened up. Hopefully trading this junk dodge in on something else in the near future.10/22/2024, still working like a champ! Knocks on wood.

I install this solenoid back in May on my 2012 Wrangler. It fixed a frequent P06DD code but only for a few weeks. Then I got a P06DA code leaving work and I already knew before looking it up it was related to the solenoid. I didn't even mess around this time and just bought a whole new Melling oil pump assembly at O'Reilly's for $240. With the time it took me to drop the pan and install a new pump assembly (in the 100°+ Texas heat) this Dorman unit had me cursing. Beware if you think it's going to solve your problems. It did work..... for a little bit lol. After removing the old pump and solenoid I ran 12v power through the wires. DEAD! Solenoid wasn't operating. After new pump assembly, no codes and all is good.

Hit with the dreaded P06DA diagnostic code, removed the lower oil pan and contorted my hands in unimaginable ways just to replace this solenoid, procedure requires on this specific engine (apparently all 3.6l pentastars have different oil pan setups) to remove the lower and upper oil pan and extract the oil pump, wasnt gonna do that so i manages to remove just the lower oil pan to access the solenoid with great "ease" but of course not without a blood sacrifice everytime i get close to engine internalsBut a month later and the check engine light remains off!!
