item does not split rs-232 devices as stated. bought this unit to replaced a failed 1x8 rs-232 splitter, this one does not function.

I tried other methods to spit a data stream to multiple outputs but all dropped the voltage too low and the data did not appear on my other devices. This device is powered by an external power supply and does repeat the data stream from the input to ALL devices. Worked like a charm.

I had 7 commerical Samsung monitors I needed to control in two batches, but only two serial ports to control from. I tried tying all tx, all rx, and all ground together and see if that would work, but a single rs232 port was not capable of delivering the 5v signal needed.Simple solution. Two of these units, connected an rs232 cable from each monitor to a port on each of these units, turned all monitors to ID 1, and I can now control the two banks of monitors. No issues, no conflicts or hassle, just worked. A very reasonable price as well

I wanted to split my DVPro2 serial connection, so i decided to try this. All you need a null cables and not straight through. My purpose was to simultaneously run the software and at the same time feed data to my WX3in1 APRS radio. With some cable soldering on the WX3in1 side, everything works!
