The plug can be taken apart to expose all the pins for easy access, but they are not easy to apply solder. I sanded the pins but it is easy to short circuit with the center pin if soldered on the inner side, and it is easy to short circuit on the shield if soldered on the outside. The hole in the pins are plugged so I could not stick a solid wire into it. After hours of attempts (shorts and cold joints), I resolved to using a very fine drill bit to roughen the tiny hole in each pin so that solder could stick. As suggested by someone, it is much easier to buy a Din-8 cable and splice the wires.

Ordered these to connect to an OEM car stereo head unit. The center pin’s placement on these connectors is slightly different than the one on the head unit. Hopefully I can find another use for these.

They work. Not all that easy to solder to but that's how these always are. Working well in my application (replacing a missing part of the factory stereo harness in a 1985 Mazda RX7).

I was sent 4 8 pin male, 1 5 pin female, 1 8 pin female plug. Who does the quality control for you?

It does the job. These connectors are a little hard to solder too, but that is just the nature of Din connectors and not a fault of the manufacturer.My only wish is these didn't came in a pair as I originally needed only the female plug. But I did ended up finding use for the other plug.
