Being hand carved each piece is richly detailed with deep relief, sharp lines, and a truly unique touch. That master piece is then used to create a mould master. Once the mould master is created we use our high density Urethane foam to form each medallion. The finished look is a beautifully detailed, light weight, solid construction, focal piece. The resemblance to original plaster medallions is achieved only by using our high density Urethane and not vacuum formed, "plastic" type medallions. - medallions can be cut using standard woodworking tools to add a hole for electrical or a ceiling Fan canopy. - medallions are light weight for easy installation. - they are fully primed and ready for your paint. It looks great and serves its purpose of covering up caulk damage from a fixture I replaced in my rental.I used heavy duty mounting tape for (hopefully) damage free removal when moving out. The medallion was covered with dust so it took some effort to clean it up so the tape would adhere properly. Even after the cleaning, there was residual dust that may impact the tape’s adhesion.After about 2 days it fell due to the adhesion impacted by the dust (the tape stayed on the ceiling, just not on the medallion). There doesn’t appear to be any damage after it fell—I’ll try to figure something else out.

This exceeded my expectations. I attached it to a chandelier base 4.7” . The medallion was also big enough for me to move the existing light box a few inches and cover the ceiling hole. I’m so happy with it!

Final installation looks great. The medallion material is thick enough for a quality look but light enough to easily glue it to the ceiling. Took me a while to cut the right hole size without the right hole saw bit but was able to do it with smaller drill bits and a razor blade. I bought the factory finish and do see a couple of chips of paint but nothing that can’t be fixed. Be sure to caulk the edges and it will look fantastic.

Before ordering, I paid attention to past reviews about some of the quality control issues related to this medallion, but decided to give it a shot anyway. In my case, I received a medallion that was nicely cut and ready for use.Very easy product to paint with a sponge brush and some high gloss trim paint. I applied several coats to build up a nice level of reflection, and the end result is stunning.Install was very straight forward with some architectural adhesive for mounting and a bit of paintable caulking to fill any remaining gaps. I wore a pair of rubber gloves while smoothing the caulking to reduce the messiness while giving me max dexterity and control on that final touch. And it is consequently gorgeous!My only negative feedback for this particular Ekena product is that urethane is not exactly the healthiest synthetic material option to meet an affordable product price point, and I would personally pay even a bit more for pine or polystyrene over urethane. But other than that, zero complaints.

I was so excited to order this beautiful medallion and so very disappointed when I opened the box. Right away I noticed that the center hole was cut unevenly and the edges of the hole were chipped. I returned it and am awaiting another one to be sent. I have my fingers crossed that it meets my approval. I looked at many of the Ekena medallions and find that they are really lovely. I really hope that this defect was a rare mistake and that I am satisfied with my replacement.Well, I received my replacement (last two pics).....I didn’t even bother to unwrap it, I just took it out of the box and noticed I once again received an uneven center hole. I am so frustrated with this product and am not sold on the possibility of it being a rare mistake.
