I have used this to monitor various temperatures, from my freezer to inside of equipment. It is very simple and easy to use. The ElitechLogWin software lets you change the settings on the device and download data. However, one really annoying feature of the software is that it only runs full screen. It takes over my very large monitor and I can't see anything else unless I minimize it.

This logger works well and provides good data with the companion app. I liked that the app was available on the macOS app store. I did find that you need to download the software first in order to start the logging process and that setting the options is easiest with the software.The functionality of the logger and software is way more powerful than I need but it is intended for industrial use and I think it is fully capable of any means by which you may need to log and keep track of temperatures.My only criticism is that in this day and age, most laptops are shipping with USB-C connections instead of USB-A so you may need an adapter if you have such a computer. It would've been nice to have an adapter supplied with the logger.

I ordered this temperature data logger to monitor the heat load coming from attic spaces. Ideally, the air temperature in an attic should match the ambient air temperature. However, an unventilated attic can reach temperatures of 150 degrees in the summer, which is 50 degrees higher than it should be. An overheated attic forces your air conditioner to work harder, wasting energy and increasing electric bills. This device records attic temperatures, allowing me to quantify the improvements from venting modifications.Three unique features set this product apart:First and foremost, this device is reusable, unlike some temperature loggers, which are single-use only.Second, the external probe can be inserted into the attic space through a hatch or hidden stairway, enabling the logger to remain inside the air-conditioned space.Third, the ease of setting up and operating this device is a significant advantage. The clear LCD screen provides real-time monitoring, and the recorded temperatures can be easily downloaded for analysis. This straightforward process gives me confidence in using the device and understanding the data it provides.My experience with this temperature data logger has been excellent. During my first project, I measured the improvements from solar attic ventilators and soffit vents. As each improvement was installed, I measured the attic temperatures before and after, demonstrating how much the attic temperature was reduced. The first solar attic ventilator reduced the temperature by 15 degrees, the second ventilator by an additional 7.5 degrees, and the soffit vents lowered the temperature by another 10 degrees.This product performs reliably, and I am pleased to have it. A second device would enhance my analysis by allowing me to measure ambient temperature as well simultaneously.

I picked up the Elitech USB Temperature Data Logger because I've been curious about the garage freezer. Everything in it is frozen as expected, but there is frost and buildup in it that I can't explain. I think maybe it's cycling, but I wanted a way to monitor it and verify my hypothesis. The Elitech logger is that way.Using the device is simple: download the app (Windows or Mac only! We Linux users are the forgotten step child again!), configure the device, and drop it into its location, then forget about it. Come back in a few weeks (or months) (or years), pull the data and voila! a complete PDF report that can be used to analyze the freezer temperature cycle. I have it running right now so I can't comment on how accurate the results are, but I'm hopeful. By the way, the included instruction manual is incredibly detailed and complete. And the logger is reusable, so you can retrieve the results, clear it out and configure it for the next project. Nice!Other than the fact that the logger app doesn't support Linux, this is a nice unit and is easy to configure and use. Recommended.

The Elitech USB Temperature Data Logger is designed for industrial, professional use, but we used it for a much more modest application to understand the temperature cycling of our freezer. We were impressed. Read on for our findings.-- EASY TO USE: It is very easy to use and understand. The manual is comprehensive, at 37 pages long, but you barely need to reference it as the unit, and the accompanying software is very self-explanatory. A sample page of the manual's table of contents is attached.-- EASY SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD: The start-up manual refers to the Elitech website to download their Windows-based app, which is downloaded quickly and installed with no problems.-- FAST DEVICE RECOGNITION: After plugging the device into the USB port of a desktop computer, the software quickly recognized the device and downloaded and plotting the data.-- REUSABLE: One key feature of the Data Logger is that it is reusable. Many are one use only to monitor the temperature of a refrigerated truck while in transit. This device can be used with only a battery replacement when needed.-- SYNC TIME: Once the software is installed, the time is synced to the PC's time, and several other settings can be changed, such as changing from centigrade to Fahrenheit.-- EASY PRINTOUT: The software is easy to print. It recognized my printer and printed to it without a problem.-- EASY SCALE ADJUST: The software easily adjusts the time and amplitude or temperature scale. I have attached a 24-hour test of our freezer, showing it cycling about every hour and the time we open it after shopping.-- CALIBRATION CERTIFICATE: For professional use and Quality Assurance, a certificate of compliance with an expiration date is included.
